# 1 13u team that we have seen this year is the Ice Richards. Clark has done a great job with his team.

we saw this team early at Berliner NSA's....it was frustrating playing them since you knew it was a matter of time before they brought out the whipping sticks..which, of course they did...i imagine they are primed and ready to go, now that the season is really kicking in....good luck, ice

I think a good question is how many true 13U teams are out there? One "overage" girl is enough to ruin the classification.

Buckeye Heat has a pure 13U team - it is slated to go to USSSA 13U Nationals in a few weeks.

A true 13U girl would be a girl who is 13 years old on Jan 1st, 2007. ?Those are the guidlines set up by the sanctioning bodies. ?Lets not start pole vaulting over tick turds about what defines a "true" 13U team. ?There are several "true" 13U teams in Ohio this year and they are all holding thier own.

Not to be picky, but if the question is 13U, then we have to be precise.

To Goblue's point, 12U teams have it easy. A 14U team can carry girls that are officially 13 and 14 without penalty, as they are classified as the older age group. Same goes with 12U teams, and all the even numbers, for that matter.

To respond to wvanalmsick, I absolutely agree, there are some younger teams that are holding their own in the 14U world. The point of the first question is probably that those teams that are true 13U can return every player for next year - as 14U players.

I am guessing that the Ice team is a true 13U. The Buckeye Heat team is a true 13U. Probably some of the other organizations are too - so who are they?

I can say that the Buckeye Heat team has been playing .700+ ball this year. But we have been primarily playing a PONY/USSSA schedule, with ventures into some of the smaller ASA/NSA venues. Did just fine at GAPSS - going 3-3 and making it into the final 12.

The team will be a contender next year at any 14U venue.

The Stingray-Seeds is true 13U. ?The NWO Irish-Gold I believe are true 13U. Cincy Doom 92 should be true 13U.

The Heart of Ohio Force is all 13's.

Gahanna Lady Lions - Blue is 13u with the exception of 1 player.
4-3 and top 8 at GAPSS this past week.

There are quite a few very good teams that we have played the last couple years in this age group.

NWO Irish
Heart of Ohio
Buckeye Heat
Stingrays
Have yet to play Ohio Ice but saw them at GAPSS last year and very good.


Next year should be very competitive at 14u.

GFOD Thunder Collins is a true 13-u team and will be going to 13-u nationals in Columbus, Indiana on the 23 of July, Hopefully to see the Heat. I respect their coach and think she is a fine coach. Good luck Heat and Thunder and congrats to both teams on a very fine season.

Having now seen almost all the top 13u teams, here is my list of the top 5 for what its worth.

Ohio Ice - Richards - Many people said they looked like the best team at Stingrays and 2 wins over Lasers Green (1 a shutout) is very impressive.

Heart Of Ohio Force - Solid season with very respectable showing at Stingrays. Of course I am biased.

Lasers Orange - Started very strong and are still very good. Can they be considered 13u with a couple older girls?

Miami Valley Express - Laribee - Very hard team to predict. Beat us in Sparta but don't win a game at Stingrays

Gahanna Lady Lions - Completely off the radar until GAPPS. Very solid team.
