i hope no one thinks i do regret paying, this is more of a numbers thing for me (i am the statman after all)....i wouldnt know what to do with my summers if i didnt. this kind of came about after reading several posting about costs and team fees, etc etc, the little things people complain about and how it is a fraction of what the total cost really is. dont get me wrong, love it love it love it

Hillarddad 3, great post, Who cares. It not only time spent with the dd, but you cannot put a price on all the friends we and our kids have for life!

sb - I agree to a point. You only do this with your daughter for a short time, and i enjoy it, but

Some teams will go to vegas or texas and those, you would have to fly to, got to draw the line somewhere.

Some teams are just out of my price range with my other kids playing sports.

How does one really put a price (even though it is easy to do) on supporting our DD's in pursuit of what they love to do?

Straightleg I agree, but if it wasn't for softball I wouldn't have you as a friend and you are just one of the many great people I have got to know thru softball.

Statman... you don't have to worry about coaching this year... you just keep the pencils sharp, info ready and a few ones in your pocket to donate to the poker in the evening...

Another cost--telephone bills (?) We're not totally cell-phone people yet, and still get some use out of the old land line. And bribes/blackmail--anyone else have a daughter do the old..."If I strike out 15, or hit a home run, or make Team X, can I get....?" I actually don't mind to a certain degree, because I always tell mine I love to reward performance, and I keep the threshold pretty high! This year cost me contacts(which they were getting anyway) and a cheap go-cart. Next year talking about gas/insurance for the oldest, and a newer go-cart for middle. Unfortunately, my baby likes s-c-e-. One other cost I just thought of--two extra oil changes compared to last year.
