Actually, Brecksville's number # 1 gave up 6 runs, and the other 6 runs were scored on their # 2,

I'm reluctant to weigh in on this, because I really don't have any intentions of downplaying anyone's abilities or contributions to their overall teams efforts....rather to state what's somewhat obvious that nobody wants to address directly.

Comparing Walsh to Brecksville is apples to anvils.

IMO, Brecksville's pitching is probably the weakest part of their game overall. They play good team defense, excellent strategy and chemistry from their coaching staff, and they work well together on offense to make things happen and contribute good run support. That alone is going to win you the majority of your games. While many of their opponents might have a better pitching rotation, a few costly errors on defense with limited run support will be their downfall by the time you finish 7 innings.

Walsh, through the more open enrollment process, matches Bville effectively on their strengths, while also possessing much superior pitching.

I also dare to say that nearby teams such as Hoban have improved their pitching staffs over the past 2 years, due to the log-jam in the circle at fellow open enrollment schools like Walsh.

Fair assessment. By the way, I was rooting for you guys to beat Wadsworth. Was looking forward to playing you tomorrow at Barberton.

Comparing Walsh to Brecksville must be apples to anvils. After all I am sure Brecksville has some sort of youth program where many girls have played together for years. Dont think Walsh has that. The have to put together a team of girls who may not know each other at all prior to HS. Dont try to turn this into one of those whiney football threads. Both teams have had good years and may compete for the final in the end. Be happy about that.

Who cares if kids know each other before high school? That's like saying you can't hold team tryouts and put together an awesome travel team.

Not the same at all. HS programs play with who enrolls in the school. Brecksville certainly has the advantage over Walsh in their ability to field a program at the Jr High level. There is also an advantage to players being together longer and knowing each others abilities. But like I said, no reason for this to turn into one of those public vs private whiney football threads. There is plenty of that on Yappi every year.

Nobody here mentioned football or public vs. private, other than yourself. Twice now.

Best to read the thread and what is written, rather than implying intent by others. Limited open enrollment is also practiced at several public schools in the area.

Just to chime in: Several of our Walsh girls played summer ball together at a high level for several years before joining their high school program. Moreover, the girls gel as a team over several months of playing winter ball in the pre-season and then team practices after the start of the season. By the time they play their first regular season game they have developed plenty of team chemistry. I would put our girls up against anyone in that department.

Barberton bats around the order scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th. A lot of tough outs in their lineup. Final 10-3 Barberton. Wow!

10 runs??? Wow, where I come from that's called "getting lit up like a christmas tree!" Then again, even Bob Feller had bad days on the mound and his team's bat's took the day off.

BTW, Perry lost to GlenOak too.

Every team can have its bad days and its good days, that's the beauty of the playoffs, you have to be prepared for every game, can't have that bad one or you go home. That's why very few people reply to this thread, KARMA is a B#$%^&.......

Walsh had a bad day. Barberton had a good day. Simple as that. Karma had nothing to do with it.

Nothing wrong with discussions about teams and/or players we've seen and been impressed with early in the season. I can see why parents and coaches would stay out of it, but I also don't believe karma has any impact on the winners and losers.
