what do you think the main pros and cons of playing rec and travel ball in the same season??

The pros, JMHO, they get more at bats and basically have practices all week long (games included).

The con would be, typically, not as good pitching which leads to bad at bats and just reaching to get a hit. Not as good of hits to have hard defensive plays.

Overall, I think that it is better I mean, every hour on the field can only improve your knowledge if nothing else.

The pitching will be slower and easier to hit at the rec level. The speed picks up on the select side.

I've seen a few posts from you regarding hitting. It's painfully obvious that you want to be the best you can possibly be and I personally think that it awesome! Putting all the mechanics and hitting drills aside, it seems to me that you are confident at the rec level but hesitant at the travel level.

You can be the greatest soft toss, batting cage, and practice hitter in the world, but if you don't go up to bat with confidence and attitude it will be very hard for you to make good contact with the ball. It's all about confidence and attitude and I can't stress that enough. When batting, you have to go up to bat KNOWING you are going to hit the ball hard, not hoping just to make contact. Go up to bat thinking, "Okay fielders, try to field this!", and put a good confident swing on the ball. Don't get down on yourself if you don't reach base, just keep trying. It will eventually all come together. Be patient and persistant and above all, never get down on yourself. It's just around the corner kiddo and you'll come around.......

DD's experience was that rec ball did nothing to help her "bat" with getting more reps at the plate while playing rec ball. The pitching was so slow that it hurt her more than helped her once she went back to travel ball play. You tend to pick up too many bad habits or revert to your bad habits dealing with the pitching transitions.

She gets more out of practicing during the week or working out on her own.

I think similar questions get asked a lot, but the fact is, not all rec ball is the same. I think if you're in a league where there is some good pitching, and they really work with the girls, extra reps are good, pitching or hitting. But if you are around a league that has barely developed pitchers and the coaches are whoever's mom/dad they could rope into it, it's better to just practice than to play in that environment. Some rec leagues are really good, others not so much... for travel ball players anyways. And sometimes you can even play up a division in rec ball and help yourself that way also. Just my two cents...
