Charlene, I hear ya ... I would have rather have had played Sunday and won it that way as we had all the previous ones .. but mother nature stepped in. We played 3 full 6 inning pool play games - including a 1-0 battle with the Ohio Fire that had runners thrown out at the plate twice, double plays, great infield play, pitching and several deep fly balls ran down and caught, etc... it was the best and cleanest fastpitch game we have been part of this season.
As I told my players and the 12u which also was the top seed, you control with you can control. Pool play games are very much meaningful. They establish your seed and standing for Sunday. Many teams have lost a tourney on Saturday by dropping a critical pool play game.
We were asked to play 3 games and we won them and had the best run diff - that is what every team took the field trying to accomplish on Saturday. (And we did it using 3 different pitchers and moving our players around between infield and outfield as we try to do in a PP games.) The girls executed their pool play games the best and were rewarded for it. Every team from 10u to 16u accepted their trophies likewise, it in no way diminishes their accomplishment.
