Mike Jellison, teacher in the district, I believe he also coaches at the younger age level in the Stingray org but first time at girls HS sports after coaching baseball at some HS level. The coaching situation at WMHS has been not good recently but I think Coach Jellison will be a firm hand to steer the program against a group of parents that hijacked the program over the past several years. Previous coaching situation and parents drove girls out of program resulting in almost no upperclassmen on roster. Watkins has been weak for too long in softball getting overwhelmed in the OCC but the road isn't going to get any easier in the new LCL . A lot of strong teams in that league that went deep in OHSAA playoffs last year, Licking Valley, Granville, Newark Catholic, Lakewood, etc all good programs. Since Jellison has started, girls are coming back and he hopes to have enough interest to have a three teams at the HS this year. I haven't heard who the new coach is at Heath after Kyle went to U of Toledo as assistant HC.
