That is why 911 happened. We sit on our hands and let them hit us here and there with out do anything. They say we are scared american and won't do anything.

also Reagan's military build-up was good and Clinton came in screwed it all up. There is the problem if we had the military that Reagan built up we would be in better shape.

So we declared war on Japan for a act of terrorism (peal harbor), why did we declare war on Germany? FR

Awww---you tryin' to fool me with a trick question, FR? lol ;)

We never declared war on Germany, they declared it on us, and that's what brought us into the European Theater of Operations.

Here's a nice time line I found that sums up the dates:

Dec 7, 1941 Japan attacks Pearl Harbor. Tokyo declares war on United States & Britain

Dec 8, 1941 U S Congress adopts declaration of war against Japan.

Dec 11, 1941 Germany & Italy declare war on the United States

Dec 13, 1941 Hungary & Bulgaria declare war on U. S.

Because if we did not all of Europe would be named Germany on our maps the sissy French were getting there butts kicked. The UK was next.

I saw someone on Glenn Beck the other night talking about Putin, said he is a real leader, may it be good or bad, but a leader he is.(Sorry to sound like Yoda). He does what he says he is going to do, and does not worry about the rest of the world. He is right. Don't get me wrong, he is not the leader I would want, but what scares me the most are the choices we have coming up. What is going to happen to us, we need to reclaim our country and stop worrying about what the world thinks. Does everyone forget the good we do?

Lou is telling you libs what you want to here for ratings. Lets tax big business to death and there won't be a lot of jobs. Also we are getting closer to paying 50 cents on the dollar to taxes. You will pay half of your check to taxes if the national health passes.

Go to Europe and pay $11 to $12 for a liter of gas and milk and half your pay check goes to taxes and I hear Europes health care is bad compared to here.
Wow that sound good to me.

I guess the most appropriate bit of wisdom I can think of comes from George Santayana's famous saying---"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

(Up on soapbox)

And so 34 years later we have yet another "energy crisis" which revolves around controlling the world's oil supply! Anyone remember 1974? Maybe we can let Lee Iacocca bail us out with another "K" car debacle! WOW - that really solved our problems! And what have we done in the meantime? Absolutely nothing - just like an ostrich with it's head in the sand! What will we do in the NEXT 34 years?

Keeping the ol' war machine cranked up under the guise of wiping out terrorism is a great money transfer device - unfortunately it's YOUR tax money, your children's future - AND Osama is STILL alive somewhere. Blaming one political party over the other is just another smoke screen excuse - BOTH Republicans AND Democrats are equally guilty of neglecting our children's future.

History repeats itself - and the masses have ALREADY forgotten... But all the skilled politicians KNOW that and just use it to their advantage. That's something they don't teach in school.

(Step down from soapbox)

(like they say in the Olympics)---You stuck the landing on that one, Sammy. I'm with you.

Everywhere I look I see reports that the gap between the rich and the middle class/working poor is expanding at an alarming rate.

I don't know what the answers are---I just think it's a shame that in this greatest country on the planet we can't make sure that every family has at least basic housing, food and health care. (I'm not sayin' everybody is owed a big screen tv or a lexus ~ just dignified living conditions and an opportunity to keep their family healthy).

Just wanna say to everyone posting on this thread that I love this sort of exchange of views, and I hope no one is seriously getting bent out of shape. This is for fun and I hope we can respect each other's ideas, even when we don't agree.

katjoebenmom,
what if push comes to shove was the 60s and the seventies. Every day was possibly your last day. A big reason for the huge drug use was that people didnt live for tomorrow because they were not sure if there was going to be one.AT LEAST THATS MY EXCUSE AND I am sticking to it. lol
