I read this tonight and I couldn't believe it!!!! This coach is in it for the wrong reasons. $500,000?!?!?! Maybe he should watch where the heck he's walking!!! Poor kid.

Little League Baseball Coach Sues Player For Tossing Helmet In Celebration

I read it too. Unbelievable. Truth is, there is absolutely NO WAY a helmet could have done this. NO WAY. Unless the achilles gets sliced with a sharp piece of glass (true story, couple havin fun in the bathroom, knocked mirror off the wall, broke, sliced tendon) or cut with a hockey skate (true story, HS senior last year) the achilles always tears itself. you cannot tear it from a direct blow unless it cuts through the skin and then through the tendon.
People will often say that they got kicked, or jabbed in the tendon, but this is never the case. It just FEELS like it was kicked or jabbed. Both Kobe Bryant and Dan Marino recalled thinking they were kicked, but replays surely noted that no one was around.
The guy is an idiot.

Shepard Smith interviewed him on TV. He reamed him over the amount of the suit - $100k for medical expenses when his out of pocket costs are less than $10k (Tool blamed his lawyer). Shep also questioned him repeatedly about getting around with an injured achilles for 9 months prior to having the surgery (March 23 -> Dec 30).

Tool says he'll drop the suit if the family apologizes to him.

What a high character citizen leading a group of young men. Sometimes sh*t happens in life and you deal with it and it doesn't include suing someone.

This story was on our local news and an attorney was on the show that day and said there is no way this will hold up in court. Anytime you step on the field to participate (player/coach) in a sporting event you assume the risk of injury. According to this attorney. When you go to watch a baseball game you assume the risk of getting hit with a foul ball.
