What is the status of the Ohio "Beverly Bandits"

I saw a thread about the Ohio Bandits looking for players but I'm pretty sure that is a different team...

Guess we,ll see. I think my Ohio "elite" players will be fine and contribute just as soon.

Everyone chooses they're own path. Good luck to ALL of them.

Can't say I know who "your" players are, what kind of schedule they've played, or where they are headed next year and it doesn't really matter.

I still contend that their tougher schedule will have the current Bandits more prepared to face D-1 competition than kids that play for teams that don't play that level of competition. Bottom line, Goshen is not Boulder, Stingrays is not Demarini, ASA is not PGF.

I do agree, everyone has their own reasons and chooses their own path from the choices that are offered. I'd also contend that performing at a high level versus high level competition will afford more qualilty opportunities to choose from.

That said, the cost, level of commitment, and level of competition is not for everyone.

Absolutely good luck to ALL of them....

so are the ohio bandits actually having an open tryout ? I actually know a kid interested (not mine) . Seems to me like if the coach is from Michigan she might want to see all kids in action instead of going on reputation alone. maybe they dont have any openings ?
They don't do traditional tryouts. Kids have to be on the radar for serious colleges on top of being really talented. Then they bring you in for a look. They don't have open tryouts.

Anotherdad- pretty sure that dumbbucket's 14u Lasers Blue team ventured out and played in the Colorado Junior Sparkler (14's) and PGF Nats in Hungtington Beach. I imagine that they will venture out even more as 16's in 2013.

That's awesome. It's a start.

I could be wrong (and it certainly wouldn't be the first or last time) but, unfortunately for the those referenced in the post I replied to (those now moving on to college), to my knowledge, that level of play/competition was not available for them on teams in Ohio when they were playing 16U/18U, so they went elsewhere.

Sun_Dragon, Any truth to the rumor that the Ohio Beverly Bandits will be a 16u team next year?

Here is their website link. The Beverly Bandits - Illinois' Premier Girls Fastpitch Softball Organization

I believe they actually played in The Rising Stars last month - but I could be wrong. The word was that the TC people sold it that Conroys team was playing but they were in St Louis so the Ohio team went to Fla. Not totally sure though.

The fact is that more and more opportunities are opening up for kids to play on teams from outside their area, or teams that are expanding their tournament options. I know first hand that there will be more of this coming down the pike. Is it for everyone - absolutely not. Does it mean those that don't will not play top level college softball - absolutely not. Does it mean that if you play for one of those type teams that you will automatically get a free ride to the college of your choice - absolutely not. But for those that ventured out to events like D9, PGF, ASA GOLD - they see the difference. The sport has tons of options. Finding what works for your daughter and your family is all that matters.

Next years team will be 18u, if there is talk of a 16u team it is probably for 2014.

It's my understanding that the current 14u team will play 14u again next year, or at least those that are eligible. There are already rumors about a new 15u team next year....but just rumors right now

I think they are talking about a branch of the Beverly Bandits. Not sure why the call them the Ohio Bandits though

Any help on why call them Ohio Bandits ? Aren't most of the girls from out of state and don't they still practice in Chicago area ? Is this just for recruiting of Ohio players ?

Thanks in advance

Right. I was just clarifying that the tryout post was for the original Bandits.
