What is your definition of success.

I was just wondering what your definition of success is for H/S,and or travel ball.

Blue Ice has a Thread Ending Post right there. Yet... It all depends on your goals. The He-men out there would say "Winning States/Nationals. Nothing else." But if your goal was to bat .400, or have zero errors, or win Districts, whatever...

No one person can tell another person what success is. It's how you define it.

I will gauge my personal success as a coach in about 3 years when the first group of Stingray Gold players graduates from college. If at that time they decide that they want to coach softball - or any sport for that matter - it will be a win. Getting young ladies involved, and projected as role models, in youth sports is critical in the development of little girls. TB coaches directly influence these players toward this - positively or negatively.

As for the team - individual development and college exposure.

Success as a coach is how you will be remembered by the players, parents and other teams.

Success for the ladies if they improved from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Have they grown as individuals and as Mark said above if you have helped them to catch the bug to pay it forward, then you did the best you could have most likely. For some the softball is their world away from some pressures on the home front, no matter what level you coach or play....it's their escape, so if they don't enjoy it, we failed somehow....

As said above... At the end of the day, win or lose, if the player and coach can say they improved in some way, then it was a successful day, tournament, and/or season.

As a coach, it would be to see all my players sign to play at the collegiate level if that is what they want to do. If you get them to that level, everything else (personal stats, team wins, etc.) Will take care of itself.

As a coach just to hear thank you in the end is success.

As a player just showing up and doing your best is successful. If you don't show up success can't be acheived.

Literally have fun. Don't take this **** too serious. If you can make lasting memories with your children, then your summers are successful. The reality is, good morals and great schooling are what will define how successful you are as a parent. I sell ice cream on a wholesale route, and that is the last thing I want my kids to do. Get them educated, and pray like hell they marry a good man.
