Definition of "School ball season"

Be careful with JV players. It's not uncommon to add JV players to the varsity tourney roster. Just wait until the high school team is eliminated from the tourney to be safe

I know of some H/S teams that have played after elimination from the tournament. I believe that the season doesn't end until day of the State Championship.

No that is incorrect. If the individual player has no games left they are free to go. If they are JV and not subject to call up, they can play. If they have no games regardless if it is tournament or regular seaaon they are released. Only players on a state championship roster have to wait that long

They have to play league games if there are any left. Whether the tourney is over or not. Happened to us a few years ago. Had a league game rained out two or three times and still had to play it for league standings

One year, we had 2 JV players quit when we had to make up a league game after Memorial Day weekend since their travel team was playing in a tourney. Obviously they also had no intention of coming out for the high school team the following year ...

Coach, I agree they shouldn't quit but if they were JV did they have to dress for varsity?

Mike ... sorry, I didn't clarify ... the JV team was making up it's game as well. The varsity team which I was helping coach had the same make-up game as well.

The day after your last game. Tourny, makeup, league, breakup, friendly, angry, JV, Varsity...

If the player says "Coach, do we have any games left at all?''

And the Coach says "No, turn in your uniform"
...then she can play

If the answer is yes for any reason, then she is not yet eligible.
