Definition of a World Series

Can someone please tell me what a World Series is. Because as far as I am concerned it means anyone in the world can compete!

USSSA has advised it will not allow Canadian Teams to participate.

WOW...

I don't know exactly what it means either. Ask the MLB. I don't think they allow anyone but teams from their American and National leagues.....

Me thinks it's because we took some medals away. Heard a team from Michigan got a bit bent last year in Columbus because we knocked them out of the medal round. And one of our older teams from up here took the Gold in Plano last year too.

They sure didn't hesitate to take our money when we registered for affiliation. They shouldn't be calling it a World Series then.

By the way Lenski, Canadians are Americans too. We live on the same continent.

I agree that if you use the term world series, you should include everyone in the world. No reason not to include you Canadians.

Robin Williams- "Canada's like a loft apartment over a really great party":lmao:

I'm not trying to be an a$$ or be funny. I just don't know why it's called a "World Series" if the world is not allowed to participate. It's misleading. I'm on your side....

The baseball Little League World Series has teams from all over, so I don't know why a sanction would feel the need to exclude teams from anywhere.

In the case of Canada, they are close enough to come down and play in tournaments in the U.S., so if they are sanctioned, and win a qualifier, why not allow them to use that berth?

We've played in Canada before and have played Canadian teams before, I don't see a problem with it.

We played a few teams from Canada at the Toledo Tune-up on occasion. They were softball people just like the rest of us. I did tell our kids when we were 11U that we had to play Canadian rules when we played them. They only got two strikes and they had to run the bases backwords. They bought it for awhile.

I can't believe U-trip would not let them play. Are you sure on your info?

I thought the gift bags we gave them last year at the 11U WS weren't too shabby either.

I also enjoyed the adult beverage exchange with Daylight Kate! They were good people, and had a nice team.

I missed out on the beverage exchange....darn it. :). Well that's just one more reason to make it MANDATORY to have Canucks in every tournament.

They stood their ground in Canada and made beer taste like beer. No water downed version.

If USSSA offers their sanction in Canada..which they do... then if they don't have a Canadian World Series, then they should no doubt be allowed to participate.

That stinks !!!!

PONY a few years back had a flavor of a World Series when a team from Russia came over and played in Youngstown.

Merlion, your gift bags where very extravagant and thank you. Yes, we had a great time in Columbus Indiana last year and several of the teams we faced wanted us back to have another shot at us. From what we heard was that there were a couple of teams that put in an official complaint saying that Canadians should not be allowed to play. Our team the Bronze medalists where denied this year to play in the 12U Worlds for USSSA. They said it was for U.S. teams only.

Lenski, I know your not trying to be an har$e and only trying to be helpful. It's just a bit frustrating that they don't have a problem taking our money for affiliation and allowing us to play in any sanctioned tournament but not in the Worlds. Last year each family dropped a minimum of 2G's in Columbus Indiana. That's $24,000 less in the pockets of the local business community and that doesn't even include the coaches. We made it a family trip and spent a coupld of extra days in Toldedo on the way home.

And yes, Merlion and I did an exchange of our home grown local brew. Very tasty.

If they are going to deny other countries from competing, don't call it a "WORLD SERIES"
