What Posts "Looking for players" should say.

I can't be the only one who reads the looking for players threads and thinks to himself/herself the poster really means this:

OFC Post: 10u team adding final tryout! Don't miss this chance to join this new exciting org!

I read it as: We only had 5 girls at tryouts at our tryouts. PLEASE SHOW UP at our tryouts!

OFC Post: Pitcher's Dream!!! 12u Southern Ohio Helicopters looking for a #1 pitcher to own the circle.

I read it as: We didn't even get one girl who takes regular pitching lessons show up at our tryouts. We are really screwed. If your dd wants pitching time I will make mom/dad my assistant so you don't have to pay gate fees. I will even let you call pitches!

Whatever you say.

I look at it as teams that saved one spot just in case a stud came looking or teams that cut some girls after tryouts that maybe they should have kept.

The thread was started in fun. I'm not taking a shot at any org or team. I do agree with you that looking for one often means we saved one spot for a stud.

Or how about this knee slapper..." Looking for solid pitcher(s) and and a speedy outfielder to join a bunch of talented and fun girls!"
Oh wait, I posted that last year when DD's team only had 8 in September...:cap:

Think most have been there. We were looking to fill the final spot on our roster the week before our first spring tournament this year. Why not just have fun with it?

You're close. What I actually meant is:

We didn't even get one girl who takes regular pitching lessons show up at our tryouts. We are really screwed. If your dd wants pitching time we NEED her bad but I can't make mom and/or dad an assistant because I needed a catcher, a short stop, and a girl to play 3rd so I'm set on "help", but I will pay your gate fees AND let you call the ptiches from the bleechers! :p

not sure what TDJ is...

add 2 things:
they are a college exposure 12u team
and the team has the best coach ever and the assistant coaches tell you all about him

Maybe slightly off topic, but would you let your DD take a spot on one of these teams if you were not commited?

Come join the Best 14u team in the Mid-West. Looking for that special pitcher that can throw a Rise, Screw Rise, Curve Rise, Curve, Drop Curve, Screw, 2 seam fastball, 4 seam fastball, Drop, circle change, flip change, and Knuckle ball.....if you have at least 8 of the 12 mentioned, I will take a look, also, I must approve of your pitching coach. This team went 72-0 last season, winning every rec-ball tournament we entered.....DONT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know we are laughing about these posts but when my younger daughter was with Ohio Ice Silver (12u) I think, our coach posted what everyone is laughing about ( looking for #1 pitcher). Guess what? She showed up and we had a great season. . PM me if you want to know who the pitcher was.
Moral of story is, unless you ask you will never receive it or is it some dreams turn into nightmare?

Well, we all know that looking for a #1 pitcher(when you are Ice or Stingrays, Lasers, Heat, etc (forgive me if I left u out...))has a totally different meaning than when you are a first year club that is newly formed, if you know what I mean...
