Wouldn't this point up to the fact that more needs to be done to acquaint the wider sports community to travel ball news? Our local newspaper has a fastpitch columnist -- during the spring and summer -- who writes news items on tournament results and happenings as part of following the local high school standouts. The idea would be to get an idea of the potential audience of those who would be interested in news like that?
LOL - I used to do some articles for JJ Huddle occasionally regarding High School baseball & softball games & features. I can remmeber a few years ago I offered to do an article/feature on travel ball focusing on the Slammers & Laser Silver teams. They were huge rivals at 12u, both went to Roseville California for ASA-A, both finished in the Top 10. Seemed like a lot of good "angles", that were newsworthy, of good local amateur interest, with the potential to promote the sport.
CRICKETS, crickets I tell you! .... I could almost even detect slight "laughter" embedded in the typed letters "
NO THANKS" coming electronically from the keyboard on the other end. Oh well .....
BTW, although my dd was not a part of that team, I do enjoy arriving back in Hudson and seeing the sign at the edge of town ....
