When the game has passed them. Everyone will know. Seems like older coaches can't connect with this younger generation---good ones can, bad ones can't adjust. The old school style just doesn't work anymore.

Most HS coaches do not care what the outside world thinks as it relates to when to hang it up in their sport....
They get their supplemental contract$$$$ and if they play a .500 schedule, win a playoff game or two and you are golden...

Most of your better programs (at least in SW Ohio) have coaches that have been around and have experience dealing with parents and problem players. The programs with revolving door of coaches tend to not be as successful.

Heard of some past contenders losing control of there girls and there actions , and not really addressing issues by isolating the problem to keep the program viable.Coachs making false claims about opposing teams players to divert attention away from there own problems.Such a new low for there program.

The first thing that any coach regardless of sport and experience is that they have to learn that one of the things that keeps a program down is the saying, "Its all that has worked in the past and is all that will ever work." Coaches have to keep up with the changes in the game. They have to be honest about the make up of the team. A coach's ability to structure their offense around what their team can do is crucial to having long term success. That would include drill work and changes in practice routines. When a team doesn't have pitching, they have to teach that pitcher to live in the river and that pitcher must have a change up. The change is the great equalizer against good hitting regardless of how hard a pitcher can throw. A coach has to honestly evaluate their coaching staff. I have always been blessed to have former players as my assistant coaches. They knew exactly how I wanted things done. Well, this is a start.
