I only had 15 possible combos but allow multiple choices. I know that some of the choices were omitted due to the limitations. Chime in...

Personally I am a big ASA fan, I enjoy those tourneys more then most of the other sanctioning bodies, with NSA close second. Now that we have a real ASA commish in NWO, (Fast2Home) , I believe there are going to be more ASA tourneys in here which is a good thing :).

As far as competition and college exposure, I would definitely choose ASA. However, when it comes to nationals, I was a little disappointed that they tried to cut corners. When there are lots of college coaches attending and players wanting to show their very best, ASA put sponge-like limited-flight balls in the pool play and reused the same balls all day long instead of providing new balls for each new game.

That is one of the reasons that I don't think that ASA "treats" the teams the best.

So much depends on the Tourn. Director -IMO. We play twice a year in Beavercreek, mainly because of the way Bob goes out of his way to run a good tournament. Doesn't hurt that the grilled chicken is very good. ;D

I would side, like others, with the ASA in regards to the games and tourneys themselves, but I feel the ASA comes up short administratively. You cant access rules online, the ASA/Bollinger insurance is more expensive and restrictive as to what and where it covers. They are just too protective in regards to their ASA "turf" I guess, in general, as far as admin and such goes. I feel the other orgs are much more user friendly in regards to the adminstrative functions of running a team.

ASA is easily the best as far as competition. But I had to vote for USFA as the best choice for your question. They give the coaches more flexibility with line up's and sub's. There focus on letting the girls play and keeping the rules simple is another plus. And most importantly there location for nationals is perfect. If I have to spend 7 or 8 days out of town with my family then Panama City, Florida is way more attractive than Columbus, Indiana or some of the other mundane locations that the other sanctioning bodies choose.

Well, Pony is probably definitely out for me as the top one simply because of their 9 player only rule. ? Yeah they have the fielder only/ batter only rule so you can get 10 into a game. ?But for the younger ages, 10, 12 and even 14, its more important that you get as many girls involved as possible on pool play day. ?Sure you can sub them in and out but sometimes thats hard on the player coming in to be "into" ?the game. ? As for tourneys, the Pony tourneys seem run the same as the others. ?Depends on the TD usually. ?Don't like their Nationals format though. ?Once you get into elimination day you have 1 game a day, assuming you keep winning that one game. ? ?And the parade/opening ceremony taking up an entire day is crazy, especially when Saturday gets rained out which it did one year. ?Lastly, for us in Western PA there aren't any Pony tourneys on our side of PA. ? Pony's web site is ok. ?Alot of info, but not to easy to navigate around. ?But Pony also handles baseball unlike NSA and ASA. ?Oh yeah, the Pony Patch thing is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. ?No consideration that these girls do play in ASA or NSA tourneys also.

NSA has a ton of tourneys being run all over the place, and in Western PA, is predominantly the sanctioning body governing most of our tournaments. ?We don't have too many ASA tourneys around here it seems. ? Again, their tournaments and how they run depend on the TD usually. ?Most are good, though some are bad, even real bad. ? Their web site, national level, is full of more info, versus ASA.

As for ASA, the tournaments my dd has participated in have always been great. ?Well run, good umps. ?With one huge exception. But again, we don't have many ASA tourneys locally. ?My dd has never been to ASA Nationals or Regionals though their format does seem more friendly and understanding that these kids parents have jobs and other kids to consider. ?NSA and Pony are an entire week commitment which is why usually, the majority of the teams that go to NSA and Pony Nationals are based somewhere very close to where the tournament is being held. ?ASA Regionals is a long weekend. Most regional teams would stay away from ASA Nationals unless its in their back yard. Most, not all. But most. Pony and NSA amount to regionals. Pony due to it really only exists in this region of the country right now for softball at least.

Overall my vote has to go to ASA. ?But its close. ?We don't officially favor one sanctioning body over another. ?In the end, the tournaments are a result to how the TDs run them.

One last thing, we would favor one over the other if one was to put an end to the time limited games. ?Put the game back above the money. ?Quality over quantity.

Is that heavy enough for you Johnnies? ?;)

NAFA is the name of the sanctioning body and you can check out their Region 7 website at ?www.sharksoftball.net for the director of Illinois site and www.nafaregion7.com for the Regional site.

But, I am just wondering how teams feel about another organization and whether or not anyone has played it. ?I like their set up and these men come from ASA office holders in the past as well as AFA former officials.

Any comments please.
