Uber & Mboosty - thanks for the compliments!

You can send me an email at coachshaver02@yahoo.com or call me at 216.224.6358 if you're interested in a lesson. I charge $25.00/hr.

xpect - you hit the nail on the head - you're DD has to be comfortable with the instructor. VERY important part of the whole process.

Excellent point Fastpitchdad, You know how well our dd's take advise from dad, well atleast in my situation. I need an instructor that is going to set expectations, motivate & hold my dd accountable. When dad talks I think she feels that she has to do it, I need an instructor that will make her want to do it.

Both Dave and his daughter Amie are very good at keeping score as far as if your girl is keeping up on her practice between visits. They pick up very fast if the girls are having trouble remembering what was shown them at there last visit and will point out to them they need to be working hard at what is being taught. My daughter loves working with both of them and after her visit Friday with Dave said he really makes pitching exciting and works hard to show them both her progress.Like you said working all the time with dad gets old for them and they need a coach that brings and demands the best out in them.Cant ask for more than that.

I have to give a holler out there for Ed Beavers. I have watched some of his girls progress over the years and am very impressed not only with his no nonsense approach to pitching but also with his dedication to his pupils. You will constantly see him at the tournaments that his pitchers are in to follow their progress in game situations.I kinda think he likes the concession stand too, though because he is always eating something while he is watching their progress! lol

:yahoo:Ed also gets my vote but he is the only instructor my DD has ever seen, so I cant give reviews on any others. Ed really turned my DD around fast and she looks forward to every session with him.

Some do and some don't. More than anything, it helps the bucket jockey. Effective pitching coaches can gauge rotation and whether or not spin is tight by evaluating the mechanics of the pitcher.

Dave Leffew is outstanding and my dd has a ton of respect for him well worth the investment (hourly rate ) he not only instructed her but teaches me how to take her to the next level and make her a better pitcher i think i learn more per lesson than she does . besides she is the youngest girl he sees @ only 8 years old . he has a great way to relate to both parent and child . ps. good luck getting a appointment to see him . he is booked most of the time !!! unless your a good mechanic then he will squeeze you in !!!lol go Black River !!!

High School Coach is first coach to state not to use a striped ball. DD has worked with a few of coaches listed on this thread.

Carla never stopped giving lessons, she just quit taking new students. She gave birth to her 4th son last fall and after a short break, is now taking new students. She's played the game at it's highest level and has taught some of the best around. What more could you ask for.

This is another example of why OFC is such a fantastic resource for the fastpitch community. Is it possible to create a directory of coaches on the web site, or would there be any kind of liability issues?

Back in the old days pitching coaches would just give birth during the lesson and still get you out of the lesson on time.

I hear you Uber. Seems like softball has to take a backseat to just about everything. What's the world coming to.
