Why no JV talk?Post them scores!

I think the reason not too many people post JV scores is because it is meaningless. There is no postseason and no rewards. So if a team goes 20-0 or 0-20 it really means nothing. Basically just practice.

Tell the girls that put in the hard work since the winter it is meaningless. You really are a dumba**!

Also, there are some JV teams out there who could take many of the varsity teams. I'm just sayin'....

Saturday's results:

Avon 11 Berea 1
Avon 10 Berea 0

Avon 12-2

For who ever doesn't think that JV is not meaningless..WSC is seriously looking at our JV team. There's not just one player standing out now like in previous years past. We're undefeated in our conference.

for those who say travel ball doesn't make much of a difference. Travel wasn't really heard of until a few years ago here except in baseball. This JV team is mainly made of sophomores and freshman. All freshman starters play travel (except my dd who will play only as a pick-up player for those who need temporary players). Our 8th grade class is just, if not more talented than the freshman class, and the 7th graders are talented as well. These girls work hard all summer to be the best.

Toledo City League JV Championships this upcoming weekend. Now tell these girls who have worked pretty hard this season that what they do is meaningless. Everything has meaning to some people somewhere.

Funky Monkey- I second the motion that this is a dumb azz comment. JV isn't Varsity, but it certainly dosen't take away that most are working to be the best players and teams they can be and they go out there to win. As said earlier- ask the young ladies if the wins or losses mean anything!

Dude, don't be so sensitive. Who's saying that the girls shouldn't work hard in the winter (or spring, summer and fall for that matter)? If they want to make Varsity some day then all of that hard work will have paid off. In the mean time get some good game pratice in during the JV season but understand that the results do not count for anything. Is that so bad? Again these players need the practice and the JV team is a great place to get some game work in.

As far as winning or losing of course winning is important (and definately better then losing). However the fact remains that when the game is over the school is not going to record the final score even if it was a 25-0 win. JV games are JUST PRACTICE.

Trust me next year when your daughter makes the varsity team you will feel the same way, and you will pretty much care less what the JV team'd record is or what the final scores were. Because it simple doesn't matter.

Not sensitive just don't like people putting down anyone for working hard at trying to accomplish something. Whether it be freshman jv or varsity it does not matter. But it DOES matter to the girls who are putting in the work.
And you are still a dumba**!!!!!

In 7th and 8th grade,I went 12-1 against Gahanna in those 2 years. This year,I was 0-3 at the jv level. They are a deep program at the high-school level.

Plus,I just like to see where we fit in with other schools.

Some of us are TOO in to it(like me).Doing it for the kids and love it.Have to be doing it for the love of the game-my frosh plays varsity and I've only seen 3 games this year being JV coach.

Pickerington Central fields 2 JV teams!Tell them it's just practice-30 kids wanting to make varsity next year. They'll probably field 2 JV teams next year-barring costs.

Anyways-back to some scores and highlights-original idea of the post.

Please explain how anything that I said is "putting down" anyone for working hard? All I did was respond to the question in the title of the thread. The question was "Why no JV talk?Post them scores"

Nothing that I said is in any way meant to put down any player. Just stating a FACT that JV results mean NOTHING! Practice yes and thats good.

BTW what is a dumba??????

Funky....You know how it is when people read typed messages...what was meant as a simple observation and opinion might have come across to the reader as condesending, sarcastic, or uncaring. Its hard to put emotion into a typed message. As a JV coach, I know that the scores "don't matter" for the most part to me. Are my girls learning and getting better is clearly more important. But the scores mean something to little Susie's grandma. And sometimes they mean something to the varsity coach when he sees a close win over a very competitive rival team. And they sure as heck mean something to little Susie!

Trust me, I know its all about the varsity as far as school records, stats, and post season success. But its ok to think that those 2-1 thrillers and those 20-0 blow outs at the lower levels meant something to someone.

BTW...I think dumba*** means an ignorant little donkey....but that's just a guess!

I did not read anything derogatory into any of the posts accept the responses by those that are sensitive to the issue. I do not believe anyone was putting any girls down nor do I believe there was any slamming of families.

Everything is relative in families of reserve or freshman teams are the most concerned about their daughter and her team’s performance. Don’t take anything the wrong way but school ball is much different than travel as the records kept are for Varsity action.

Reserve and freshman players are aspiring to become Varsity level players, at which time their play will make them notable for representing their school district and community in competition. This is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of and I read nothing on this thread to believe anyone meant anything by their posts except the obvious. It’s OK and I’m proud of all of them.

I didn't see anything that I took as negative either.

The word meaningless- –adjective without meaning, significance, purpose, or value; purposeless; insignificant: a meaningless reply; a meaningless existence.

I don't have a kid in high school, but my initial reaction was- that's going to offend some people and that's what happend. Don't think that was the intent, but that's what happend.

Ok, for those who have experience. What are the cahnces of JV making up the games? Rain is expected all week and the yellow disk (I can't remember the name of it) is suppose to start showing itself.
