I did listen. It is still an excuse and NOT an apology. He started off with "I did what I did because I misunderstood a rule". That's all I needed to hear.

CZ messed up. Say 5 Hail Mary's, 5 Our Fathers, and act of Contrition, spend the rest of the season in your chair with your mouth shut and enjoy seeing these girls play and progress. Afterall, it's THEIR game, not yours.

I wasn't on last night, but did listen later. The confusion I had was whether he was apologizing for misinterpreting a rule and getting the umpire to go along, or whether he helped to take a home run away from the girl irrespective of any rule. In other words, if the girl had missed third base and his team properly appealed, would that be ok? If the problem was taking the HR away, period, then constantly bringing up this rule misinterpretation would be unnecessary and irrelevant.

One quick note on the wristbands ... while my wristbands are black, the windows on the bands are clear plastic and it is conceivable that they could reflect some sunlight, though that is a reach. And we certainly saw a lot of pitchers even in the WCWS wearing them. My preference is however that younger pitchers not wear them and, while working with a college team on such a system, came up with a way to do a pitch-calling system without the pitcher wearing one.

We had an ump two weekends ago make DD take it off due to glare. She had it on her pitching arm. She put it on her glove arm and all was well.

1st OFF - Happy Birthday Joe ! Did you ever think getting older could be this much Fun :lmao:

I think CZ is sorry for everything that happen, we didn't really ask any questions about what happen, accept the questions from Jeff. Since we had more then a few people in the show with a phone line that could have fired away at CZ, but not a single caller say a things.

Next time we have someone on to talk about any incident that we need cover it in a little more detail..

O well !

Backstop ... I'm confused I guess ... in the podcast I participated in, CZ starts off at around the 46 minute mark with an apology to both organizations and to the girl for what he took away from her. And yes, it is different than what he posted here earlier in the day.

I will put this out there and let my side die.

As fathers Jeff Ricky or anyone else you would feel 100% comfortable and safe with your daughter playing on the same field as this guy?

Answer that question to yourself.

I know my answer!

The prosecution rests

I met CZ (didn't know it was him to after) at Lasers a couple years ago. He called a fair game for us. NO complaints for that one interaction and he actually gave u props. Sounds like getting hung up in the rules Twilight Zone is a killer!!

If a player dives, and not Static, and catches the ball or even comes close... guess who I hi-five, the young lady going ALL OUT... this is my approach ALWAYS and for all similar plays!!!

Fan first, coach second... the 10u DD that hits a bomb is NOW on my lil' Crystl Bustos look out for her list...congrats to her!!

What exactly is your fear? I've seen you rant and rave on and on about CZ, and I don't know what your fear is. I live in the Lancaster area, my daughter plays on a 10 U travel team, and I have been around CZ at various times. In fact, I have taken my daughter to Field of Dreams a few times to hit. I realize that you only know him from what you have read on here. I would agree that CZ hasn't made the best decisions about what to post on here. But knowing what I know about him in a much different context, I would absolutely allow my daughter to play for him.

Why are we so upset about the home run thing? Who cares? Regardless of what the call was, the girl still hit a home run. If a rule had been broken(which everyone now knows wasn't), then I don't see the problem. Obviously, CZ thought a rule was broken that would help his daughter's team, so he made it known to those involved. It happened to be that he and the umpires were wrong. Guess what? That happens sometimes. It doesn't take away the fact that the girl hit the home run--doesn't matter what the book says or the umpires say, she still knows that she hit it.

Here's some irony: you've noted many times that you wouldn't want your daughter playing for CZ and others shouldn't either. Based on the numerous attacks and other lack of intelligence you've shown on here, I would much rather my daughter play for CZ than someone like yourself.

Also, don't say, "The prosecution rests". You sound like a tool.

And before the 47:00 mark he is bringing his supposed misunderstanding of the rule and using that as an excuse for his actions. I know a true apology when I hear one. The words may be from his mouth but the apology does sound as though it is from his heart.

I have met CZ. Although the proverbial foot has been stuck in the mouth on here, he is not a bad guy. He seems great with his kids and is a pretty good coach of a pretty good team. I think we should just let this rest and move on.

We had a girl from our organization, Celine Wyatt, pass away last fall and CZ was one of the first people to reach out to the Wyatt family. So let's keep this in perspective folks, this guy is not a monster.

Another 1st post CZ supporter. Go back to the shaved bat post and READ then wonder why I would not want my dd playing his team.

Hawks ... after what I heard last night, yes, I wouldn't have an issue my DD playing against his team and, by the way, she was a pitcher. As far as playing on his team, I honestly wouldn't consider that yet until I've had a chance to see where things go from here ... but my guess is he's going to earn the kind of trust that would make me at least consider it.

If what you heard lastnight put your heart at ease I hope I get you on my jury if I ever need it :)
