COEBURN — Noah Rasnick was on his game Friday. The Eastside pitcher didn’t allow Twin Springs a hit and the Spartans rolled to a 10-0, five-inning victory in a Cumberland District baseball showdown. Rasnick faced only 15 batters after one reached via walk but was caught stealing. He struck out 11. Adam Ketron, Drew Richards and Blake Rhoten had two hits apiece for the Spartans (7-3, 3-0), who will host Patrick Henry on Monday night. Tanner Dingus took the loss for Twin Springs. ABINGDON 11, UNION 1 ABINGDON — The battle of the top two teams in the Mountain 7 District turned into a blowout. Abingdon scored a combined 10 runs in the second and third innings to beat Union. Tanner Barrs allowed just one hit and struck out 11 in four innings of work for the Falcons. Barrs also rapped out a two-run triple and Cade Hungate hit a two-run home run. Hunter Anderson recorded the lone hit for Union. WISE CENTRAL 6, LEE 2 WISE — The Warriors recorded a good Mountain 7 win over the Generals behind two RBIs and a 1-for-4 effort from Ben Brickey. J.P. Stallard, Tyler Muncy and Landon Elkins each drove in a run for Central. Jonah Hilton led Lee, going 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. SEVIER COUNTY 6, JOHN BATTLE 4 PIGEON FORGE — The first day of the Smoky Mountain Invitational did not get off to an ideal start for the Trojans. Isaac Deel, Jarret Pool and Eli Todd each had an RBI for Battle and Todd accounted for his team’s lone hit against the Smoky Bears. VOLUNTEER 15, UNAKA 10 ELIZABETHTON — The Falcons scored in bunches, pushing across two runs in the first, three in the second, four in the fourth and six in the fifth to hold off the Rangers in a nonconference slugfest. Heath Douthat and Landon Carver had two hits apiece and Douthat plated three runs for Volunteer. Gabe Musick picked up the win on the mound. SULLIVAN EAST 18, HAMPTON 6 HAMPTON — Brantley Ellis went 3-for-4, Perry Casaday amassed five RBIs and the Patriots ripped Hampton. Ellis, who tripled and drove in two runs, pitched five innings for the victory. He tallied seven strikeouts and withstood seven walks before Drew Hatcher threw the sixth and seventh for East. Casaday was 2-for-3 with a double. The Bulldogs’ Dru Owens turned in a 2-for-3 effort. Collecting two RBIs apiece were Gavin Hardin, Landon Street and Hunter Davenport. SEVIER COUNTY 18, DANIEL BOONE 7, 5 INNINGS SEVIERVILLE — Ben Allen, Zach Taylor and Brody Goodman had two hits apiece for Daniel Boone, which couldn’t hold a 6-1 second-inning advantage. Allen was 2-for-2, Taylor banged out a pair of doubles and Goodman scored twice. Eric Rigsby socked a two-run double in Boone’s six-run second inning. Sevier County scored in each inning, producing 16 of its runs during innings three through five. DOBYNS-BENNETT 11, BEARDEN 6, 8 INNINGS KNOXVILLE — The game was tied at 6 before the Indians pushed across five runs in the top of the eighth inning. Offensively, D-B was keyed by John Deason, who went 2-for-3 with a double, Cade Maupin, who was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, and Brogan Beckner, who was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Giving up just one hit and totaling four strikeouts, Jackson McDavid pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the decision. DOBYNS-BENNETT 10, WEBB 1 KNOXVILLE — Throwing a two-hitter, Max Everette finished with an astounding 16 strikeouts. D-B’s Jaden Alderson went 2-for-2 and McDavid provided two hits and a pair of runs. SCIENCE HILL 5, MORRISTOWN EAST 3 MORRISTOWN — Caleb Marmo came through with a two-run, two-out single in the top of the eighth inning to give the Hilltoppers the win. Chance Hall had a 2-for-3 game for Science Hill and Marmo was 2-for-4. SOFTBALL HAPPY VALLEY 14, SULLIVAN CENTRAL 6, 3 INNINGS ERWIN — Olivia Absher batted 3-for-4, doubled and scored three times, and the Lady Warriors pinned an NFS tournament loss on Sullivan Central. Happy Valley also received standout work from Katie Havner (2-for-2, 2 RBIs), Kaitlyn Roberts (2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) and Calli Davis (2-for-3, 2 runs). Madison Horne launched a two-run homer for the Lady Cougars. SCIENCE HILL 12, SULLIVAN CENTRAL 2, 4 INNINGS ERWIN — Anchored by a seven-run first inning, the Lady Hilltoppers had no trouble dispatching the Lady Cougars in NFS play. Mackenzie Powell did the most damage for Science Hill, tagging a home run and a double in a 2-for-2 performance. She piled up four RBIs and joined teammates Gia Hickman, Sejal Neas, Jannon Glaspie and Allison Taylor in collecting two runs apiece. Central managed just three hits off Neas, who worked 2 2/3 innings, and Blake West, who worked one. Sydney Snapp was 1-for-1 with an RBI. SULLIVAN NORTH 7, HAMPTON 2 HAMPTON — The Lady Golden Raiders slipped into an early two-run hole, but back-to-back three-run innings pointed the way to victory. Abie Potter batted 3-for-3 and Alyssa Bean doubled in a 3-for-5 effort. Gracie Monk went 2-for-4 for Sullivan North, which got two hits, a triple and two RBIs in five Kaitlyn Vaughn at-bats. Winning pitcher Callie Stone hurled 6 1/3 innings. Hampton’s Reagan Baker batted 2-for-3. EASTSIDE 3, TWIN SPRINGS 2 COEBURN — Lexie King’s walk-off single lifted the Lady Spartans to the big Cumberland win and handed the Lady Titans their first district loss of the season. Liza Brace got the victory in the circle for Eastside, recording four strikeouts. Lauren Duncan was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Twin Springs. RYE COVE 18, THOMAS WALKER 1 EWING — The Lady Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first inning of the Cumberland matchup. Haley Tomlinson rapped out three hits and had four RBIs. Ashlynn Berry drove in three runs. GIRLS SOCCER GATE CITY 4, JOHN BATTLE 0 GATE CITY — Recent Emory & Henry signee Callie McMurray accounted for all four of the Lady Blue Devils’ goals in the Mountain 7 victory. Ashley Carter had two assists while Jamie Watts and Abby Williams had the other two. BOYS SOCCER JOHN BATTLE 3, GATE CITY 2 GATE CITY — Jayden Farely and Landon Casteel scored for the Trojans in their Mountain 7 win, which was aided by a Blue Devils own goal. Arturo Morales scored the pair of goals for Gate City off assists from Matt Johnson and Andrew Pendleton.
