Too Quiet in the GWOC

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

no offense but i don't see how northmont would have ever been 3rd? there are 5-6 other teams with better records before you get to northmont. But either way - that is the game all these coaches play to get at least 3-4 games in before they get to the tougher teams anyway - I vote for random picks!! this way it takes it out of the coaches hands completely - more fair that way!

Random picks? That is a completely horrible idea. So in round one the #1 and #2 seed play and in the other games you have Meadowdale playing Trotwood to advance.

How about coaches not be childish and vote for the teams the way they should be voted? If he feels Northmont was a #5 or #6 seed, so be it, but he voted them #10, which ultimately cost them a #2 seed. A 21-3 record does not warrant a #10 seed, even if they played in the Dayton City League.

Springboro's coach should be reprimanded but he won't. Springboro AD Troy Holtrey also feels Northmont took advantage of his newness to the position of AD when they asked him 10 months earlier to change the date of the Springboro/Northmont game since it was scheduled during Northmont's Spring Break trip to Florida. He accommodated Northmont. Then the day before Northmont was to play Boro, Springboro asked to change the date so they could play Miamisburg, leaving Northmont with no game. Springboro had 5 open dates to reschedule Miamisburg.

The coach threw a tantrum about a bad call during the game and then proceeded to call Northmont's AD "worthless" and told Northmont he would never accommodate them again.

Maybe northmont should be a two seed, but most would be happy with a three. Northmont is a good team. Not much difference between a two and three seed. If you're truly a great team you should have no problem getting to the same spot in the tournament that you would have if you were a two.

Not the point. Springboro's coach was out of line voting Northmont a #10 seed. I'm not even saying they deserve the #2 seed over West or anything like that. I am saying one man's childish behavior cost deserving kids a #2 seed.

He needs to be held accountable. His actions showed extremely poor sportsmanship.

Obviously you miss the point here. There is a difference between being happy with a #3 seed and being screwed out of a #2 seed because of a grudge holding coach. I have not doubt that Northmont will do well from whatever position they start from but that will not change the fact that the boro coach will always be known for this childish move.

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

My observation is that there is no real difference between the top 4 seeds. Once a team gets out of sectionals, everything shakes out. Understand why someone would be upset with a coach, but both a 2 and 3 seed gets to pick a sectional bracket. From there, don't the lower seeded teams determine who the top seeds play...?

But I echo the others...Wayne is always strong and a team that can be a giant killer anytime. Look forward to seeing how tomorrow night goes, we would like to end the season on a positive note, but Wayne is peaking, and at the perfect time!!!

Bethany pitched and pitched very well. I doubt if she gave up more than 3-4 hits. Northmont just did a nice job of bunching the hits and moving runners over.

This is just a guess - but did Bethany pitch in this game? I am thinking not!!

Yep Bethany did pitch the entire game. She had a solid game against the bolts. I think she had around 10 Ks and we got 5 hits off her. We started hitting the ball in the later innings off her and were able to keep Lebanon off the board. If you want proof just watch the replay of the game online. channel 6 in lebanon.

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

Two very solid teams and it looked like they had a great game. We saw Clutter earlier in the year and I mentioned then that in my opinion she was one of the top pitchers in this part of the state. We did not get a chance to see Campbell this year because our game was rained out but having watched her for the past few years it sounds like she has even kicked it up a notch in 2010.

Both of these teams will do well in the tournament because they have played tough schedules and prepared well for it. Best of luck to both teams as you are the top teams in the GWOC for this season along with Wayne. Go represent well.
