Rule Question?

Can the "Rip-It" face masks be painted hunter orange? Can't find anything in the rule book.

Personal equipment can be any color, I would avoid fastpitch yellow on a pitcher's mask, but anything else should be fair game. The only color requirements I've found on equipment in the rule book have to do with color of the pitchers glove.

I don't see anything in the ASA book that limits color, but it does give the ump the latitude to deem it distracting and make you remove it.

I've seen umps disallow a catcher's mitt that had a bright color (may be orange?) around it.

The Rip It facemasks already come in colors like blue, red, black, etc. I can't imagine it being a problem unless like previously stated it was fastpitch yellow.
Good Luck!
(I would hate to paint my dd's though as the team and the color could change, and it is too expensive to keep replacing if you don't have to!)

That's a fairly ridiculous ruling. The rules say that the glove worn by the catcher may be any color. The only position with any restrictions on glove color is the pitcher, so as to not be distracting to batters.

If the catcher wore a wildly colored glove, who would the catcher be distracting? Her own pitcher, maybe?
