The Valley Extreme is working with a local hotel to offer one room for the manager, a coach, or a player in need, free of charge! The team can decide who gets the "FREE" room. The only requirement is that the entire team books reservations at the hotel. As soon as we receive the deal in writing from the hotel I'll post the name of the hotel, phone number, and the key contact name.

Stay tuned!

The Valley Extreme has just added our “4th” sponsored hotel!!! Please call Sammy at 330-759-7632 for “team group” rates, and mention that you are competing in a Valley Extreme tournament. This hotel has 152 rooms and is only 14 miles from our ballfields, the entire driving distance is highway miles.

The 14U State (OHIO) ASA/USA "A" tournament is only for the teams that reside in Ohio. We cannot accept registration from teams from IN, MI, WV, or PA (or any state). You are however free to play in any National or Easter National qualifer tournaments in the state of Ohio.

Sorry.....it is going to be a GREAT event!

You are right this tournament can serve many purposes....and in defeat can still be a positivie experience. There is no doubt that the best teams in the state will be here, so come and play, learn the game better (both coaches & players), use it as a stepping stone, and to gage where your team is at and where they want to be!

You will learn from the players, coaches, managers, and supporting fans what is takes to play softball at this level, in older ages groups, and the dream of playing at some level of college softball.

I thought the Hawks Organization runs an ASA/USA qualifier? Did that change for this year coming up? If not then I would think at least 5 berths should be available for State, nice!!!

Correct, Shorty has the berths for all ages 10u-18u here in the Dayton METRO. He will be announcing the registration link this weekend .. June 3-4-5 are the dates in Kettering.

Teams:

The questions have come up regarding “background checks” and “Ace Certification”. Per our ASA Representative….any adult coaching inside a dugout is required by ASA to have had a “background check”. Also, ASA requires that at least one adult on your team have “Ace Certification”.

The Valley Extreme Tournaments “WILL NOT” be requiring verification that these two items have been completed.

Keep the questions coming…

CORRECTION, CORRECTION, CORRECTION

Per a recent conversation with our ASA State Director (Warren Jones) the requirements for “Background Checks” and “Ace Certification” for 2011 has changed!

BACKGROUND CHECKS

All adults that will be in your team’s dugout “MUST” have a background check, and these adults will need to be registered during the tournament check in process. ASA will be providing these adults with a certification document (card) that verifies that the adult has passed a background check. A copy of this verification will need to be handed into the tournament director during the registration process prior to your team’s first game. These are the ONLY adults that are permitted inside your team’s dugout!

ACE CERTIFICATION

Each ASA team must have at least one team representative that has Ace Certification. This representative “MUST” be present in the dugout throughout each played tournament game. A background check is an element in the registration for the Ace Certification. ASA will be providing these adults with a certification document (card) that verifies that the adult has passed the Ace Certification process. A copy of this verification will need to be handed into the tournament director during the registration process prior to your team’s first game.

If you have any additional questions please contact your local ASA Representative. Sorry for the confusion….

Per ASA:

Your “Background Check(s)” and “ACE Certification” cannot be done during your registration process the day of the tournament registration. These items “MUST” be taken care of prior to the tournament, and verification will be required prior to your first pool play game for your team to be eligible to compete. If these items are not completed, or you do not have proof of verification your team will not be allowed to compete and your entry fee will not be refunded.

Again if you have any questions please get with your local ASA Representative.

Hi Greg,
With the mention of camping and RV's. Would we be able to leave the RV there over the weekend? Is there anything going on at the Optimus?? club that weekend; just asking becasue the entire parking lot can be used? As far as the Rv people; that is a nice campground there at the lake and if you have a boat stay a couple days and do some boating/tubing?? But if you want a good spot on campground better do it now becasue the good ones fill up fast. Really looking forward to this tourney; with all the teams entered so far it gonna be great; the competition and the atmosphere of just being a part of something big. Please get back to me on the keeping the RV there for the weekend. I understand that I would park int the back area and not taking up 7 spots right up front (it would be nice thou :)

Yes RV's are allowed in the back parking lot by the woods. The complex is gated so it will be locked around 10:00 p.m. each evening.

Hope this helps

The town of Cortland will be having their annual "street fair" the evenings of 6/23, 6/24, & 6/25. Will be a nice place to go and get great food, play some games, and based on your courage ride some rides after a long day of playing softball. I'll be providing some directions to get around the street fair traffic as the event draws near.
