Winning a ASA State Tournament is a BIG DEAL!!!!

Like to solicite what 1st and 2nd place "hardware" teams would like to see?

1. Team and individual trophies
2. Team and individual plaques
3. Team trophy/plaque and individual style medals
4. Have State tournaments in the past recognized the 3rd place finishers?

Looking for feedback.....

Little bit outside the box, but how about a video of the championship game done in multiple angles and given as a DVD to each player. It is something they can look at 25 years from now with their kids, while the medal or trophy has been in the landfill for 20 years. Something a little different.

That is a good idea!!

I still think a tee shirt that says champions will last longer then a medal or trophy. So it takes a week to get the shirts to the coaches, with correct size, I think its worth it to be able to wear a shirt that says champs.

If you already have a printer on site for tournament t-shirts then they can and should be able to print off the t-shirts for the champions with the pre-made stencils.... and the correct size for the winnning team with T-shirt blanks of all sizes.

I'd say give more than 3 places of hardware though. Especially when teams just keep coming and coming and coming....LOL

I think coaches like clocks.....instead of team trophies. Shape of Ohio clock with a plaque is nice and cherrished by coaches.

First place prizes for the individual girls needs to be something DIFFERENT than trophies. JACKETS with the declaration of "OHIO ASA 2011 14u State Champions" in the front inside a softball emblem would be nice for the girls and coaches.

I mean.. Who's got one? ;)

2nd Place should be T-shirts with "ALMOST OHIO ASA 2011 14u STATE CHAMPIONS" printed on the front.

I think not only the girls would get a kick out of it... but most definately be proud to own this shirt as well. The words say it all.

Only Hoodies would be even better versus the t-shirts. :D

I think the Valley Extreme people will come up with something orginal for having the largest 14u state tournament ever held in the State of Ohio if teams keep entering at this pace. :yahoo:

Every 14u team in Ohio should get in this event and make it an "The Event To Remember" for the girls in 2011 !!! Especially the girls who can sport THAT jacket for the rest of their lives !!!!

Tell me that ain't so ???

3rd Place could say .... " AT LEAST WE MADE IT TO THE SEMIS " with 2011 14u Ohio on it somewhere like in a softball emblem

Just a thought .

I'm good at spending your money, huh?

I'm all for change (lol), but I'm really interested in what has been done in the past, and would like to be creative to make this event one to remember! I'm still thinking we will get close to 50 teams....

I like this idea - probably could get a school TV/Media productions club to do it as a project for some real world experience.

Anyone know what the most number of teams that ever attended the 14U ASA Ohio State tournament? I believe there were "23" in 2010. We are shooting for "48".....

You are correct.....I have taken a look at the 14U travel ball team community, and we should have no problem getting to 48 teams. We are at 28 now and we are still in October. I better start looking for a few more fields.....

I'm sure the other age groups will see the same response. This is a GREAT thing that ASA did by having ALL of the state tournaments the same weekend!

I am sure the fact that is used to be straight double elimination and no pool play has a bearing on the numbers. In 2003 it was a one day event.

In 2006 only one team showed up for the 16U ASA States as Nationals were in Seattle. Last year we had 42 or so and it was in College Station, Texas.

I think more people/teams are figuring it out. It will be interesting to see the effect that Premier has on this in future years.

All are contributing factors. Another factor is that more people are playing ASA, and that goes back to above post. Well I think were getting off track so back to the reason for this thread.

Great opportunity to play the best in the state. What a amazing weekend this is going to be.

Looking forward to the challenge!!! Have been the TD for the VE for many years in the past and have organized ~20 tournaments. This one is already set up for team counts of 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, & 48. All I need to do is input the team names and everything is done. Just will need to send out a mass e-mail. I will start to update the paid entered teams and ones that have requested the entry forms on a monthly basis. The information that will be forthcoming involves eating establishments, hotel/motels, directions to the sites, and tournament rules.

Tournament Site Directors are assigned and we will be using the local high school's football team as field labor. We are working closely with the ASA State & Local Director, but the key is to communicate, communicate, communicate....

BRING ON THE TEAMS!!!!

14U Teams:

Come to battle in Cortland, Ohio on June 24-26. This is the “main tournament event” in the entire state! Are you one of the BEST, do you inspire to be one of the BEST, be considered one of the BEST, come and compete with the BEST! Be part of the largest 14U Ohio ASA State Tournament EVER. This tournament will have the BEST teams in the state of Ohio, see where you stack up and use this tournament as a gauge of you girl’s talent and your coaches/managers ability to lead.

Don’t think you can win? Afraid to take the field with the BEST, then yes there are other options this weekend. But ask your girls, your parents, your coaches, ask yourself why are we playing travel ball if we don’t want to compete with the BEST. See how long you can compete in the winner’s bracket, see how long you can last in the loser’s bracket, and see where you rank at the end of the event. And at the end of the tournament and at the end of the season you will be able to look back as 14U’s and say “I/We were THERE”……

See you all in Cortland on June 24-26!
