That was a flip of the coin really, I think the South is easily stronger than Central and North and any of the South teams would be in the top 2 of the other divisions.

If Miamisburg was in our division, you would definitely be above us, the south just has all the best teams except Greenville and Wayne. I don't think you guys will need any more motivation to beat the Elks, we don't have the dominate pitching to hold off your bats, and if you hit the ball against us, well, you know what happened last year. Unearned runs pay the same!!

Just for my own education, who are the GWOC girls going to make a big splash this season? I know West Carrollton Sara Marrs signed already, Fariborn is returning strong pitching and of course The Duncan, the Elks Megan Pearson after signing with D1 Arkansas will make this an even better year than the last 3, which will be fun to watch! Fairmont lost some superstar offense but retains their strong pitching, Northmont I think stays strong along with Wayne. I think Troy and Springboro may may supply some interesting upsets....

If I am not mistaken, Northmont did not lose to anyone in the South last year. As a matter of fact, Wayne was the only team in the GWOC to beat the Bolts last year. Greenville beat the Bolts 1-0 in 16 innings, but they were not a GWOC member last year.
Are the Bolts not being looked upon as a team to be that good this year? Sounds to me like everyone in the South must be better than the Bolts, and Wayne and Greenville are obviously looked upon as being better.
I just hope the Bolts can compete with all these great teams next year.

I think that is another coin toss, Wayne beating Northmont last year is the only thing that decides that ranking for me.

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

Some questions I have before I do my predictions who does Lebanon and Greenville have coming back at pitching? Northmont did beat Wayne last game but yes it is a coin toss as to who is going to win between them two. It will take Northmont a few games to figure out who is going where and what are lineup is going to be. Northmont is a very young team but will have are best hitting team they have had in years. I think Lebanon has some great players but if they don't have the dominate pitching like they did last year, Fairborn or Miamisburg should win the south division. I am still not sure about Butler, Piqua, and Troy. I think Northmont and Wayne can beat all of those teams in the south. If Springfield gets some help defensively. Springfield will be a very tough team to beat because of there pitching. How about some other opinions on the league a lot of unknowns this year about some of the top teams. I think Miamisburg will come out very strong if they get a little bit better in pitching they could be ready to take the division with all the hitting coming back. I don't see West carrolton winning the division this year but they could depends on what west carrolton has I know Sara is a really good pitcher but i don't know what they have besides her. I think i am over looking Fairmont a little bit but you never know they have a pretty good lineup and solid pitching.

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

Does anyone know anything about the new Troy coach, Scott Herman? I've got a DD who will hopefully be moving up to varsity this year, and we know absolutely nothing about him...and I'm scared since I saw the laughing emoticon earlier in this thread!

Thanks for any info!

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

I hate to pick em but I feel Northmont, Fairmont, Miamisburg, Wayne, Fairborn, Lebanon, Greenville, W. Carrollton, and Centerville will all be in the mix at the end...my sleeper picks will be strong showings by Beavercreek and Springboro.....Sara Marrs will keep West Carrollton in the mix in the South...glad she is going to OVU with my kid :).....Northmont pitching will be tuff, Burgs bats should keep them competing, Wayne is solid throughout...same with Centerville, Lebanon will still be strong.....Greenville will be strong but doubt they will be Fisherback strong....Fairmont can beat anyone on any given day....just depends which team shows up.... GWOC is such a tough league......glad to see it...just shows how hard the summer programs are working

Here we go, one never knows how the GWOC ends up but here are my picks:

North:
Greenville (too much hitting)
Butler
Piqua
Troy (losing Cain hurts)
Sidney
Trotwood

Central:
Northmont (complete team)
Wayne ??
Centerville (will score a lot of runs)
Fairmont
Beavercreek
Springfield (good pitcher, not sure what else)

South:
Fairborn (too much talent not to win)
West Carrollton
M'burg
Lebanon (will hit with anybody)
Springboro
Xenia

Alright. Here goes:

North:
Greenville
Butler
Piqua
Troy
Sidney
Trotwood

Central:
Northmont
Centerville
Wayne
Fairmont
Beavercreek
Springfield

South:
Fairborn
West Carrollton
Springboro
Miamisburg
Lebanon
Xenia

Greenville is too strong to not win the north, too many bats. Northmont will be a really strong team, very complete, has all the tools to make a run. I think the south will be a very tough division to play in this year. All of the teams have the potential to beat any other team on a given night. Lebanon loses a ton. Not the strongest pitching, lots of leaders graduating. Fairborn and West Carrollton probably have the most talent out of the schools, both with great pitching. I think Springboro will surprise alot of teams last year. They were a very competitive team last year, beating Fairborn, a 1-0 game with Lebanon into the sixth, a very tough loss to Burg in the seventh. Should be a very decent team.

This should be a very competitive year for GWOC softball. Can't winter go any faster!
