Too Quiet in the GWOC

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

The discussion is obviously a moot point if Krupa stayed in Lebanon for her senior year... Oh well - as they say, "reload" - not rebuild. We have 2 Freshman that will fill the void just fine..

You are correct on that one. Krupa was an incredible talent behind the plate.

Who is taking over for Campbell?

That is a big void to fill....it probably would take 2 to fill it...

Yes greenville does, Jess, kayla, and madisen played one year together on the miami county blaze and have watched many games of greenville. It is up in the air, I guess im a little biased.

Paige Wolter has been Greenville's catcher since her freshman year and she is now a junior. Like you I am a little biased also:)

I dont know about Woodard being the best catcher in the league, got a darn good one in Greenville.:)

I'm sure there are many good catchers in the GWOC but what makes Woodard stand out is she calls pitches AND she knows how to call a game. Catchers have such a big job to do, usually a thankless one, and not only can this one "catch" and throw down to 2nd, she can call a complete game. Gotta admire that. And from what I hear, she has been smashing the ball in fall ball.

Not many catchers in the HS scene can do that. That takes a great understanding of the game and of their pitchers and an ability to gauge each individual hitter comparatively...

She has not committed as of yet. Several DIII schools have shown interest and have invited her for visits, and some have offered academic scholarships. As far as I know, she is weighing her options.

Look for Kenzie Morgan (Ohio Heat Orange) to take over for Campbell. She is a junior at Lebanon.

There are many good catchers in the GWOC but I think I would give my vote to Harvey at WC or Wolter at Greenville. I know Harvey calls her own game for sure and Wolter could if she needed to. Both hit the ball like crazy.

Graduating their senior catcher last season Fairborn will stick Duncan behind the plate for alot of its games Swtiching out with Wallace. The one position we had to graduate would have to be a catcher. ****s to be us lol. On the up side Spain and Duncan work pretty well together as a combo. Get Bolser comfortable with her behind the plate as well and we should fare pretty well. Time will tell if she can make the transition to catching on a semi full time basis. Should be an interesting last season to say the least.

Didn't Mangold's sister play? I know Munoz's daughter did a few years ago. Pitcher huh? Was she a kicker or did she mix it up?

Mangold's sister went to Alter...I know she was a line'man', but I don't think she played varsity...she was also a powerlifter...ours is in 8th grade right now, throwing 59, and mixed it up good from what I have heard....you might be thinking of AJ Hawk, Centerville player, won National College Championship then the SuperBowl...yeh, he did alright....

She looked like she was plenty at home (pardon the pun) at Sinclair....only problem with her catching is when you walk her, you ding dongs swap her out for a speedster...not really fair! ;)

Should be interesting now that West Carrollton and Greenville are now in the GWOC. As for top catchers, it all depends on who you've seen and what you've paid attention to. I give them all credit for strapping on the gear and wearing out their knees day in and day out. It takes a special kid to want to get back there and run the show. It's the closest girls get to football, with putting on the equipment, having the right intensity mindset and knowing any given inning, there may very well be contact at the plate. :D

it takes a special woman to catch and love to catch...there is a reason catcher gear is called Tools of Ignorance....

Exactly the point my friend lol. You pitch to her in the one hole and take your chances or put her on 1 and we will put in a set of wheels with no one out and the 2- 3 hole coming up.
