Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

Mangold's sister went to Alter...I know she was a line'man', but I don't think she played varsity...she was also a powerlifter...ours is in 8th grade right now, throwing 59, and mixed it up good from what I have heard....you might be thinking of AJ Hawk, Centerville player, won National College Championship then the SuperBowl...yeh, he did alright....

Lol yes Hawk is a stud. An 8th grader, throwing 59, not afraid to mix it up.... As if the GWOC can't get any tougher.....

Exactly the point my friend lol. You pitch to her in the one hole and take your chances or put her on 1 and we will put in a set of wheels with no one out and the 2- 3 hole coming up. Tim
Excellent strategy

Can Duncan stay healthy enough to start the whole season behind the plate. I thought that she had missed some games over the past few seasons starting at 1st base. The catching position is ten times more demanding physically.

I agree, If the surgeon was correct and all the disease has been removed ( we were told in January that he was hopeful that it had ) then she should do fine. So far in 3 tournaments this winter shes fielded the position without incident and was throwing and swinging the bat without pain. So heres hoping

Has anyone heard OHSAA is heavily considering re-districting and re-structuring the divisions as they are now?

I had just heard they are changing the way the divisions are ranked and heavily considering re-districting for public schools. They are tired of hearing about the catholic schools winning state titles year after year (as we are tired of them doing it) and re-aligning schools based not only on # of boys and # of girls, but how the school finished in tournament the year before. I think it will really affect football and the small schools. We are already DI so can't go anywhere. I know it's a sideways highjack, but has anyone else heard anything?

Yes i have heard of this. I think they proposed the idea the last time the ohsaa had a meeting. Not sure if it has been voted in yet though. Here is the proposed article in the Dayton daily news.

Thanks for the info. It is pretty much what I have been hearing, but had not read the article. Good to know.

This was my best guess....

CENTRAL.......NORTH..................SOUTH
Wayne...........Greenville...............Lebanon
Northmont......Troy......................West Carrollton
Fairmont.........Piqua.....................Fairborn
Beavercreek....Butler.....................Springboro
Centerville......Sidney.................. Miamisburg
Springfield.......Trotwood-Madison...Xenia

In the Central, I've heard Beavercreek could be a sleeper, don't look past them. Northmont has a burst of talent coming up in the sophomore class. The Wayne/Northmont showdown will be one to watch. Fairmont returns some varsity experience from last year, with some strong JV players moving up.

In the North, Greenville returns to the GWOC, but loses their ace pitcher. Troy has a new head coach, we'll see what he does with them. Have respect for Butler's coaching staff, we'll see what they can turn out this year also.

In the South, Lebanon has to be on top. Don't know much about West Carrollton, will be their first year in GWOC so we'll see how they fare against D1 schools. Fairborn and Miamisburg are contenders too.

Really? Who? I am asking because we have played with Kettering girls most of our lives - Centerville doesn't really have a softball program before MS - wondering who is coming up with my Soph DD....

West Carrollton has a committed D2 college pitcher in Sara Marrs....

Oh, yes, I know about Sara, just don't know what kind of support she has. Did not see the Pirates play last year, so not much to go on other than talk. I know Derek's daughter plays too, just have not seen them.

Don't know names, but the starting pitcher, catcher and left fielder (red hair) all impressed me last season. Red hair can hit and track a ball. Very impressive.
