So being told that you have to pay more, and stay where they tell you to stay, doesn't bother you?Yes but not enough to freak out about like some are! So because you stay and pay where they tell you gives you the right to look down on others. Not really looking down on, just giving my opinion on it like everyone else...the awesome thing is that i have never had to do it and won't have to since we are done with it.LOL!who are you to judge others maybe I like to stay at the $39.95, maybe that where I met my wife.I hope you and your wife are doing great, i met mine at a huge party 21 years ago and didn't have to pay a dime! I hope that you don't step on the rest of us when you come down off of the top of that mountain. I will be sure to watch my step!
So I guess that every kid that plays rec league is also beneath you, I just hope that the girls can have fun in there Jim's auto salvage tee shirts, with out having to be shamed for not playing travel ball. Yes, I will admit but only as far as softball is concerned but not as people in general but chances are they are not on this thread or have to worry about STP anyway!
your first sentence makes no sense at all "everyone has to make choices" that pretty much goes against everything that stay to play is? not much of a choiceIncorrect, the choice can be made to not be a part of the team that goes there.
Seems to me that STP really is a monopoly by limiting competition, limiting choices, and limiting freedom.
Not a monopoly. Don't lose sight of the fact that YOU ARE CHOSING TO PLAY IN THIS TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are unhappy with the STP, just don't play in that tournament.
You have total control over competition, choice and freedom by going elswhere. Explain to me where you are forced to play in these STP events.

poden, now that if had time to fully read and comprehend your last post, I apologize, and if you are at a tourney this year and see a large redneck (who probably needs a shave) out behind left or right field's fence having the time of his life whooping it up for both teams, stop on buy and say hi, I promise I will not let the other parents on your daughters team know that you were conversing with somebody whose daughter plays rec ball. i'll be the big guy running to collect the home run balls hit by either team so I can hide them from the umps and give them to the kid after the game. maybe you can even meet my wife (the prostitute)
I still do not agree that this is capitalism. Capitalism is not one sided. The consumer is supposed to have a say in what they buy. They can choose based upon price, based upon quality, whatever they want. But in this case they can't say, hmmmmm, Hotel A is nice but it is not worth $X, so I'll just go to Hotel B. And the biggest right of a consumer in capitalism is the choice not to buy at all. You have to pay for the hotel in this case.
True capitalism leads to a better product at a lower price. This does not. Remember to vote Republican at the next election.
"Capitalism" does not lead to a "better product at a lower price"...I think the economic term you are referring to is "competition".
In regards to the "consumer having a say", well you do...the end product is the tournament. The STP is within the structure of the end product. The consumers "say and choice"" cannot dictate what choices can be made within the structure, it is basically whether to buy the product or not.
Definition:
Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
Hippie
Coke has a contract with the Browns. I can go to the game and choose not to buy a coke. That is control, choice, and freedom.
Organization has a contract with Hotel A. I cannot go and choose not to buy the hotel room. This is not control, choice, and freedom.
