Pitching and Pitchers Discussion 10U pitcher throwing 55 MPH? Really?

Girl from Arizona made the Weakly's look foolish in the finals in 2007 . Threw her change at 38-40 MPH the entire game . and threw it at a MIN every 3-4 pitches . it isnt all speed , speed can help but straight speed just doesnt get it . Control of the strike zone .. location location location.

My buddy was talked to a 14U coach and commented he heard that they had a girls throwing 60. The coach said try 65+ and he was serious, very serious.......and so now it has become a running joke between us all. Meanwhile this team has entered all B level tournaments. It is a head scratcher for sure.

Does our pitcher throw 55?....NAW try 60+...LOL

I remember that the younger Paulson girl (the Big Unit) threw 55 at age 10....legit. my youngest played with her older sister -it was fun to watch that kid absolutely dominate. havn't seen her play since she moved to the left coast but she's going to Baylor i believe- or was it BYU?

Been through 10u twice now and only seen 1 girl throw that hard. Girl from Team Whatley in California was gunned at 56 at USA/ASA Nationals in Johnson City, TN in 2011. Didn't give up a run and they won Nationals.

Last winter my 6U DD was throwing 23mph!!!

I know there is a pitcher from around my area who takes pitching lessons were my DD goes. She use to play for Valley Extreme and has played for the Lasers for the last 2 years. She just turnd 11 and she pitches around 53mph. Great kid.

A dominant pitcher down here at 10U was gunned at 53 a few years ago. She was bigger and stronger than others her age then - much bigger and stronger. 3 years later she is still throwing 53......but I would suspect that many pitchers that are throwing gas as 16/18's started with big numbers as 10's. Just an opinion of course.

DD and I had the pleasure to watch CarMad's DD tonight at pitching coach. I can't wait to see her in action this summer.

There is a girl on the OFC Heat 10u team that can bring it. I've had the pleasure to watch her pitch and I have a feeling she will be getting a lot of attention this Summer.

had a rec coach tell me over the weekend that his #1 rec. pitcher @ 13 year old gained 15 MPH from last year and now throws 55.... but its from 40' in rec. and they were going to play a couple travel tournies but bowed out after they heard pitching is 43'.... (HUh?) 55mph and afraid of the 3 extra feet?? lol and after watching her throw..... I ask you ... how many 55 mph balls come in with an ARCH ??? this has made me want to go buy a pocket radar to pop some ego balloons that are floating around many pitcher parents.... I can see it now. She throws 55 really? Pull out my pocket radar and show them.... Uhm, I think you meant 45.... ? lol fun stuff!!

DD has her lesson after CarMad's DD sometimes. I wouldn't worry about how "fast" she throws this summer, I would worry about facing a 10 yo who carries some serious focus, attitude and intensity while on the rubber. And that's just what i've seen during her lesson!
