Doom 96 6
TX Magic 1

Girl from Magic had a change up you could write your name on!! Took a couple innings to adjust, but after that it was "back to Houston" for the Magic (very nice bunch).

All Riptides players, coaches and parents were in the stands rooting on the Doom the entire game after they punched another Cali team's ticket home.
Many combined team pics, O-HI-O cheers, fun and merriment for all today under the hot TX sun.

Next up for Doom looks to be the So Cal Choppers at 9AM.

Where's my red cup??

Congrats to all three Ohio teams. It sounds like they're all playing well. I'm with ya on the red cup BradWire....mine would never be empty after hearing about some of these games. I would be an absolute mess!

So Cal Choppers is the 2nd best SoCal team in Midland, but they are only a 3rd tier team. They're in Midland because they failed to qualify for Premier. Here's Bracky's take on them:

So Cal Choppers
Grade: B
Destination: ASA Nationals
Website:
Tournament Wins:
Bracky Comments: When on the pitcher gives them an edge over some of the other Group B and C+ teams. Big Bats but they are a bit inconsistent. Will have to play their A game in Midland to help So Cal represent!

Lasers opponent, Team Arizona, originally planned to qualify for Premier, but changed their mind after they played an April tournament in SoCal and found they couldn't compete. Their coach was very despondent at that time and said they "were little more than cannon fodder." The team has improved since then and is playing much better. They're used to the heat and playing deep into Nats - they finished 4th at 12u Nats last year.

Bracky's rating don't seem to be the Gospel this summer. 2 of the remaining 5 at Premier are not ranked A or B , one is not even ranked C or C-. My point is Bracky gives us readers a feel on who to look for but it's just 1 guys opinion.

At ASA 16 in Chat Tn. the Tidalwaves were undefeated playing in the winners bracket this am while the Laser Scarlett got sent to the losers bracket in their opener. No one thinks the waves are better on paper than the scarlett. (I have no clue if they played this season) But Ca isn't the only state to have teams not thought of A+ to make a deep run this week. What are you talking about? 3 are A, 1 is B+ and the other is C+.

The 2 teams that are undefeated: CA Knighten (A) and OCBB McNee (B+)

The 3 SoCal teams in the losers brackets: FC Sota (A), CA Lockman (A) and Pastime (C+)

The only A team not alive, OCBB Maroon (Stith), was knocked out by 2 other A teams. I watched the game with CA Knighten Wednesday evening and it was like a heavyweight title bout.

Pastime got a favorable draw and only beat a couple of B teams and a C+ before losing to CA Knighten. Bracky's definition of a C+ team is turning out to be very accurate for Pastime.

Group C+ - Very good teams that will need to play their A game to make it to Sunday (ASA Nationals) or Friday Night (Premiere). No C+ team has made the final eight at Nationals. These teams will cause some pain for a couple of B+ or B teams but not enough to make the final 4.

So Cal --my mistake --saw 4 teams listed I thought it was the final 4 overall , but it was the LB . MD

So I guess the "5" was a typo...

As far as Scarlett and Tidalwaves, luck of the draw and the occasional off game are big factors. The Salt Lake Pegasus team that sent Scarlett to the losers bracket is on a roll and Scarlett may not have played their best against them.

TN Fury is a top national team that has contended the last few years - tied for 9th last year in Moline and 5th the year before in Normal as Frosts Comets.

Final 4 in WB means at least top 6 finish.
