If there have been any college coaches there they are wearing some real good disguises. Maybe 8 or 10 of them formed a set of bleachers, transformer style. ;)

I just remembered a movie that my wife made me watch, something to do with some weird voo doo mumbo jumbo. The people in it had to believe in it in order for it to work on them. Perhaps this works the same way. If you believe that every 14u kid out there who can run, hit, and throw a ball has accepted a full ride then you see SEC and PAC 10 (12?)softball coaches every where you go. If you don't buy it you can't see them.

I saw Michigan, Mississippi St., University of Kentucky, and Oregon all watching the Classics & Bolts game. I've heard personally from college coaches that they begin looking at girls in 14u. They know what their needs will be down the road and recruit early.

Mike ... over the course of the last few weeks, you have made a lot of seemingly snide comments about young girls being recruited to play D1 college softball. Without question, we all see and hear parents and coaches who are talking/bragging about this when it's not, but whether you want to believe it or not, it is in fact happening to a few very select players. Take a look at the Thunderbolts (as was shared somewhere in here) or the Bandits websites if you don't believe it. Whether this should be happening or not is a whole other question ... I personally think that is too young for children to be committing to a college and that the situation is a bit out of control, but these college coaches are competing with each other for the top talent and you certainly can't blame these families for accepting the offers that are being thrown out there. Now again, this doesn't happen nearly as much as some people would lead you to believe, but it is happening and I have no question in my mind that it's happening at Stingrays which is absolutely the most select tournament in Ohio and one of the more select in the region as well.

The following college coaches were at Pickerington Central to watch some of the 14's:

Oregon
Michigan
Ohio State
Mississippi State
Niagara
Canisus
Ashland
Kentucky

And how do I know this? Because it was my job to register the college coaches.

It was always my understanding that college coaches could not communicate with a student athlete after 8th grade until the first day of the student athlete's junior year. Is that not correct?

I saw Elvis today!

A D1 college coach was watching a 14u game, no word on how many kids verballed and/or committed to her after the game.

I thought I saw a 2nd one, but then he asked the umpires if they wanted a water.

Somewhat correct. An athlete of any age can communicate with a coach while on their campus/camp.

Generally, aside from that, a college coach cannot communicate with a prospect while off-campus/camp until the summer after their junior year of high school.

Each division has their rules. Here is the link to the Division I manual.

Now there you go tring to inject reality into this conversation. We can't have that.

Mike . What team are you with ? Did you actually attend stingrays to observe or have a DD playing there ? You need to inject some credibility because right now you just sound dense to the well observed fact that some ( few ) 14u players are getting seriously recruited within the limits of NCAA rules .

Wait,,,, the guy who's calling a big steaming pile of B.S. a big steaming pile of B.S. has a credibility problem?

Hey, let's make a wager. I don't know what the stakes are, I don't even care what they are, here's what I need from you though. If you can show me ironclad proof that a kid who is 14 years old right now has received an athletic scholarship for softball to a D1 or even a D2 school you are the winner.

And I don't want to see a screen shot from an internet page that some huckster who is selling a product put out about all of the kids he coaches who have "verballed" or are "committed" to this school or to that school. That means absolutely nothing to anoyne who is smart enough to tie their own shoes and keep from slobbering all over their shirt. I want to see something from say Mike White out at Oregon that says something to the effect of there is absolutely no doubt that this kid is raking in athletic money, and plenty of it, from the University of Oregon as a true freshman in the spring of 2019 or 2020, which ever may apply.

IF you can find someone who is that big of an idiot then you all win and I lose. If not then I guess I'd have to say that one of us certainly has a credibility problem and might also be a little dense.

Players can email coaches, send schedules, ask questions. A coach is not allowed to talk to a player in person if they are D-1, even if you say "hi" they can't respond. I had a college coach do any informational session with young players and they told them this. Summer ball coaches are allowed to talk to the college coaches. Just because you verbally commit doesn't mean they have a full ride. Most schools don't give full rides for softball.

Really? Wow. I think someone, maybe someone named me, posted something to that effect recently and drew a few boos for posting it. I wonder if you will draw any...

You know, it makes me wonder, what if any penalty is there for a kid if they backs out after that "verbally commit" when they are 12 or whatever?
