see pg 1 for full results , the Birmingham Thunderbolts with absolutely zero college signee's won it .

Actually co-champs with Prospects, but they did flip a coin to see who got the trophy

And Birmingham is loaded with 7 D1 verballed kids also including the most recruited 2018 in the country. By the way she is the real deal and a joy to watch pitch.

Mike, I have a great idea! Why don't you come on the radio show to debate this topic either this Tuesday or next?

I will talk about this with anyone, but what is there to debate? I asked everyone here to produce for me a single 14 year old kid with an athletic scholarship but no one can. Why is that?

Cue the crickets .

I'm sorry to disappoint. I can't sit on the internet everyday and argue about 14 year old kids with athletic scholarships, nessie, the easter bunny, or various other things that don't exist. There is just no time for it.

Mike you have me scratching my head at what you are trying to infer. We all know that a verbal to a college guarantees you nothing. In fact...no money can even be offered to a student/athlete until they have applied and been accepted to the school of their choice, filled out all the financial aid paperwork, been cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse, etc.

Uh, no. Read this thread. I know that, you seem to know that, "we all" don't know that though. In fact the majority here know the exact opposite. Apparently it's not that they are wrong though, it's just that the things they know to be facts are incorrect.

***EDIT***
Man.... I didn't even read the whole thread, but take look at the top of this page. To some they are "verballed", to others they are "committed", and to some they are "signees." Or if you don't understand how the english language works they are "signee's", as in something that belongs to the signee.

Yes sir, I would have to say we are in the minority. Sadly.

The recruiting rules generally kick in when they become a "prospective student-athlete" (see 13.02.12), which is when they start classes for 9th grade. Coaches can start emailing PSA's Sept 1 at the start of their junior year (see 13.4.1 Recruiting Materials). They can contact them off-campus (see 13.1.1.1) on July 1 after their junior year.

Edited: The rule regarding phone calls (see 13.1.3.1) has been they can't call until July 1 after the junior year, however that appears to have been moved up to Sept 1 at the start of the junior year.

There is no restiction on PSA's calling coaches. However, the coaches cannot return calls until after the junior year, so you have to keep calling until you get ahold of them. Coaches that are really interested in a player will pass a message through the TB coach with a good time to call.
I edited an earlier post to reflect a change that is apparently going into effect Aug 1. The new Div-I manual isn't available to download yet, but other NCAA publications have been updated to reflect it.

Just some reading for you -
No, no one is signing letters of intent at 14 and I'm sure everyone knows that is against NCAA rules all that’s being said is IN FACT there are collage coaches out looking at 14U prospects - Second year of 14U is when most collage coaches start looking at prospects.

They are not signing contracts because under NCAA rules they can't but that is the ONLY reason they aren’t signing contracts.

Not sure why this is an issue with you - and it would be impossible to believe? It is IN FACT TRUE.

And if you are going to go back to the semantics of well they aren’t signing contracts that is a bogus argument.

Just some reading for you -

I appreciate you posting things for me to read. I'm not going to read it.

Sincerely though, thanks.

Here is a photo for you, I snapped it in Atlanta over the weekend:

legacy scouts.jpg

I took a lot more, they all look about the same. There is this one, it looks like there are 2 scouts, but it was only 1 scout and some guy who was trying to take her out that night.
