It looks to me like the nsa meeting will be the end of october so they should be announcing the national locations around the 1st week of november.I hope they are in orlando that would be a great trip for nationals. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I heard from a fairly reliable source that NSA nationals will be in Berliner Park in Columbus, Oh.

Looking at their web site it appears that they may have thought that supporting the Katrina relief effort took precedence as they had over 13,500 players and their families in the areas hit....

Johnnies,
any idea why NSA would continue to take a ``national championship back'' back to the cow pasture known as Berliner?

I would like to retract my statement about Orlando heard today sounds more like Berliner again. But Orlando is still a possibility.

Actually,

it all depends on whether our weeks are back-to-back, staggered, or together. 14u and 16u together isnt practical with the number of hotel rooms available. It is with staggered and back-to-back. 10u and 12u make sense coming here due to similar drive times for their existing base. we had great comments from the 16u - so I'd bet on their being back. It really all depends on what they've got with the other host(s).

I'll post as soon as I've got anything concrete.

Your disdain for the "cow pasture" has been noted before. I know there are other venues that provide better fields. There are few however that provide the number of fields to allow all the age groups to play in one location. It helps keep all the tournament officials in one spot. This provides some obvious financial advantages for NSA, but for organizations that have family members playing at different age groups, there are also some advantages to having all the games at one location.

DogsDad, I totally agree, it is very nice to have all age groups in one place. I have played at Berliner and I felt it was a nice place to have Nationals. Now as I coach I would enjoy going back to Columbus.

Dogs - you are so right. Having been to Charlotte/Rock Hill X2, Salem Virginia, Chattanooga where the venues are all over the place it is great to have a complex like Berliner. It actually feels like a National event with all the action in one place. The others were just like any other weekend tourney - feel wise.

Bigtrain, what's wrong with playing a little ball in a 'cow pasture"? Why did you know that the first softball game was played in a "cow pasture" near Newcomerstown, Ohio. If memory serves me well, I think Wayne Woodrow Hayes father threw out the first pitch!!! lol ;)

Maybe the NSA leadership will and invest in port-a-potties for Berliner.

It will make most people happier than some of the hoopla that tried to do in Chattanooga.
