We played at the NSA Columbus tournament last summer at Berliner. The complex and fields were A-OK by me....been to many that were a heck of a lot worse. I think you have to also consider that having that many fields close to several major highways, lodging, restaurants, etc is a huge plus for a national event.

Berliner Park is on the south side of downtown Columbus, just off of I71 at Greenlawn Avenue.

guru,
I doubt it is etched in stone, but if you have close ties with an NSA official somewhere, maybe they will share with you. Having the tournament at Berliner occasionally is a very logical choice for NSA.
1) They try to host all age groups in one area, usually at several complexes. Berliner has 30+ fields. Last I heard NSA typically has something like 400-500 teams, it takes a lot of diamonds to accomodate.
2) Columbus isn't the largest city around, but you certainly need a good size city to be able to provide accomodations for all those kids and parents.
3) Ohio has had quite a number of teams play NSA in the past. That seems to be eroding a little, with PONY, and USSSA pulling some teams in other directions. I believe that Western PA also has a solid representation of teams playing many NSA tournaments (correct me if I am wrong).
I am not saying it is the best place to play this tournament, but it is a logical place to play.

Would that be NSA A or B Nationals being played in Columbus?
Any idea where the other would be played?

tejam, It would most likely be NSA "A". The "B" doesn't draw nearly as many teams and thats the drawing power of "Lou Berliner Park", or for us oldtimers "Greenlawn Park". lol :D

I hope NSA is at Berliner. I like being able to park very close to the field we are playing at. I hope they invest in portable fences, that would make Berliner the best venue to see all ages playing the game. I know were not playing on sod but the feeling is different at Berliner, it really seems like a World Series.
