ASA National Qualifier has returned to Akron, Ohio for 2007. We will host the 10 U, 12 U, 14 U, and the 18 U age brackets. All details and entry forms concerning the tournament should be released by September 30, 2006. We want this to be a hugh success. If you have any suggestions on formats you might like to see let us know. We are currently looking at a four game guarantee, double elimination format. Game time of 1:30 and new games begin every two hours. If you have other ideas you would like us to consider please let us know and we will take them into consideration. I always hear coaches moaning at tournaments saying they wish this and that. Now is your opprtunity to voice your opinion. Dates for the tournament are as follows: 10, 12 & 14 U will be held May 25, 26, 27 and ( 28th Memorial day will be used in the event of any rain delays). The 18 U division will be held on June 22, 23, 24.

When all that is settled it will be posted. Does it really matter where the fields are located? It is a terrific tournament opportunity. The fields will be in Akron, Ohio

I don't know if it really matters, but I hope they keep each age group at one site and don't have them driving back and forth between games to get to another like some tournaments in Akron do.

I believe that Ultraclas is referring to the Racer's Tournament and I have to disagree with him. There is nothing better than playing, coaching, or umpiring at Firestone Stadium; I've had the opportunity to do all 3. The first time my little girl played there I was actually choked up. It is the finest softball facility in the region and if I have to drive a couple times across town on the chance that we might get to play at Firestone then so be it. We, in NE Ohio, are so blessed to have such a facility and the possibility that the finals of a national qualifier might be played there gives me goosebumps.

Jim, thanks for your hard work in bringing the qualifier into our backyard.

I also agree with you. The organization who ran that tournament made an effort to schedule as many games as they could at Firestone stadium so as to give every team a chance to play at this great facility.
Way to go!

The weekend of the 10, 12 and 14 U teams tournament the Ohio High School tournament will also be held on Saturday at Firestone giving some younger players a chance to see a few of the best Ohio High school teams from the area. Wea re making evey effort to get as many teams as possible to experience the feeling of playing at Firestone Stadium.

It had nothing to do with how many games were scheduled at the Stadium. I'm referring to the schedule to where you played one game at one park and then had to go to the other park for your next game. If one park was behind and the other ahead of schedule like I run into then you are rushed.
I thought that it was run well but they have to look at the schedule once it's printed and adjust. I was happy with the facilities and everything and will go back again.

There is no 16U because each age group is bid on. Shreve must have out bid them to retain the 16U tournament in Shreve, OH

If I recall the posts from last season about Shreve were great. I think I remember Joe A. saying it felt like the whole town turned out to watch the games. I think in the past there had been a lot of complaints about the qualifier locations. I know that I had some issues. I believe that ASA knows that Shreve was an excellent choice last season and doesn't want to screw up a good thing. I am very excited that the rest are in Akron and hope that my team is so fortunate to play for a berth to the ASA Nationals at Firestone Stadium.

We are in the same position. I wonder if the organizers have figured out that many 14U teams will have girls tied up with high School team and this is causing the information delay!!!!!
This was one of the first tourneys to announce and now one of the last with details.
Eager to get info to finalize schedules.
