Uber, by looking at the stats like strike outs to innings pitched and hits to innings pitched, you are correct to put Gates into the " premier pitching match-ups". Looks like NV, SV, and BG need to improve their offensive production given last year's individual stats.

Yeah Gates seems like the best hitter on SV's team, they also have a leadoff slapper that seems to get on base alot.

Thanks Thunder: You just do not know when to stop....

We will see....

BTW:
Pburg Pitcher #2 may not even pitch this year?

Also there are alot of details that need to be considered for stats....

Quality of schedule
Truth in stats keeping and
weather you have a broken arm..... >:(

riles....

Keep in mind 75% of the people out there scoring have no idea what they are doing.

Sprinfields runs against these teams:

Maumee: 10 & 9
BG ? ?10 ?& 11
NV ?11 & 9
SV 12
Pburg 4 runs off Pburg pitcher #2 in 3 innings whats the ERA on that? ?8-9?
Evergreen: Evergreen Pitcher #1 10 runs in 8 innings. her stats stated ERA was somthing like 0.99 yeah right.

Not all of these runs where errors ( makes my point not all the stats are on the up and up)

FP11 brings up a good point about stats they are to be taken with a grain of salt. There are formulas out there that will take into account items such as luck, weather etc. here is a good example of what I am talking about although this is more geared towards baseball so is the current way most people keep stats.

The formula for Defense-Independent Component ERA (DICE) is:

Dice= 13HR+3(BB + HBP) -2K
300+ ____________________

This is an example of baseball sabermetrics.

This is really a pretty cool formula that will allow a kid to know what her real ERA might be taken things out of the equation that she cant control.

If anybody attempts this remember PEMDAS order of operations.....Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction

Sorry I love stats, and would put my book keeping up against anybody but Stat Mans lol.

You edited your Message while I was writing mine FP11, Era would be

? ?ERA
7*____

? ? IP

Anybody who gets on base Via Error, regardless of who it is on if that said player later scores in that inning that is not an earned run.

uber.. I understand earned runs just fine...I question everyone else?

The Pburg pitcher #2 ERA for that game is 9.333333

Work: 3innings (divided by) Innings in a game 7=.4285714
? ? No of runs 4 (divided by).4285714= 9.33

To calculate earned run average determine the total number of innings pitched including partial innings such as 1/3 of an inning. Divide that by the number of innings in a game to get the number of games. Then divide the number of earned runs by the number of games. In baseball divide the number of innings by 9, but for softball it may be more accurate to divide the number of innings by however many innings constitute a softball game. I?ve played in softball leagues that play 7 innings. The formula for this would look like this;
Innings/innings in a game = games
Earned runs /games = ERA

Earned run/unearned run

Any run scored as a result of an error
A runner advances on an error and scores on a play that would not have allowed the runner to score is unearned
Any run scored after the third out would have been made

Your formula is just overly complicated version of what I use. Her ERA that game might have been 9.33, and lets say the next game it was 3 and she went 7 Innings that game, that doesnt make her ERA 6, it makes it 4.9 for those 2 games.

that allows for a bad game, maybe all the runs werent earned?

Just to throw this out there, If we are looking at the "STATS" then IMHO the premier pitching match-up is in the TCL with Schultz and Holmes. Just showing some support for TCL

riles 3 asked a simple question.

Who are the top 3 hitters returning in the NLL?

Uber later responeded with HITTING and PITCHING stats from May 10th for the entire league.
I simply responded with the top 4 returning players from the entire league list in "THE BLADE" on May 24th for HITTING and PITCHING. You see Fastpitch, the way it works is like this. "THE BLADE" compiles a list based upon information given to them from all the teams who don't know how to keep statistics. In the case of our coach, he's only been doing this 24 years, so I'm sure he doesn't know how to compile statistics. Unfortunately "THE BLADE" only uses the statistics it receives from the teams. It does not take into consideration medical excuses, the weather conditions, who's batting in what position or aginst who who's the number one pitcher or if the team has an ugly uniform. HITTING staistics list in order of BATTING AVG. Highest to lowest and PITCHING is listed based on ERA lowest to highest. SO WHY DID I GO TO FAR?.......I simply tried to answer a post.

Just an observation, but maybe some other pitchers, Let's say, oh Gates, and Stanford didn't receive the outstanding support on OFFENSE that the Springfield pitcher received to garner some wins. That is generally why Pitchers are listed in order by ERA and not by wins and losses.
Apparently the voting simply took into account innings pitched. No other stat compares to other pitchers not voted for in the league.

It was only a matter of time until SAVED would return!!!!! ;) Sort of like an evil twin
