Wow. I got nominated ? Thank you Triplethreat... that was nice of you.
Best TD in the state should cover what they do as a whole.... communication and deliver of the tournament through thick and thin.
As for best TD with a location = I'd say Bob and Betty Owens of Expressway Park, Milford. For the girls, knowledge of what it takes to run an event, personnel, fields that can take rain and bounce back up. Expressway is the one.
Best ran event I ever attended in all of my life = Outcast Tournament - Dayton, Ohio
(Bob, I stole some of your ideas...lol I like the "if you throw out a parent - the coach goes too")... Allows the game to be played by the girls and coached by the coaches. Parents are quiet and root their daughters on . Best rule EVER placed by any tournament director into tournament doctrine.
But, I'd have to give the nod to Ricky Moorehead and his three major events...Independence Blowout, Jamboree, and now the Rec World Series.
Innovative, thinks outside the box, plays through thick or thin or losing money. Tries to category the teams based on their talent to stop blowouts. (This is what some TD's need to do when holding an event - go to two divisions) Never in my life been to a tournament where the PARENTS are dancing in between innings (See 2009 Rec League / Youth League World Series). Gave out a better prizes than me...lol... Championship Rings.... Money raised through his events go back into the OFC and the girls of Ohio, etc.. benefit from his hard work and time.
Best TD from an umpire's standpoint (mine and others): ANY and ALL Ohio Hawks events. Good umpires are breaking their neck to be able to umpire their events.
