It doesn't take a softball genius (pun intended) to vote... but I voted for Tim Cleaver... as he cares a lot about the kids when he holds a three team tournament and still gave out hoodies to the girls for first place. His tournaments cost less than MOST organizational ran events. Obviously better ran and his prizes are always something different than trophies (how many trophies can one person have). Giving away Uniforms with only four teams !!!! Put together the best umpires in South/Central Ohio. Top notch. Put not only Goshen on the map .. but got away from the problem diamonds in Wilmington with their non-draining issues. Our team played in two of his events in Wilmington. The first in the Fall three years ago where he gave out Tournament T-shirts to every girl on every team free of charge. There was over 20 teams there. Then the uniform tournament he has every year... not to mention about bringing in a helicopter early on a Sunday morning at one of his event so the girls could qualify. Our team won and we went to the World Series because of his effort. His tournament was the last chance to qualify.
I thank him for his efforts for the girls. Some of you may think differently.. but this mind set of teams of "come to my tournament and I'll come to yours" is getting old when org tournaments are getting more costly every year versus these individuals who come out of the blue and throw well run tournaments for a lot less money with no "homering" going on.
I'm from Wilmington and I know his brother and not Tim personally. Comes from a good community based family. I noticed he is putting out less tournaments in 2010 when he should be putting out more events. That is a shame .... he's all about the girls and not how much he can pocket.
