Doug,

Do you have a reason to think that the 14U qualifiers won't be as set out in the opening post of this thread? We got the same information as in that post from Warren Jones recently, so I'm assuming that it is accurate.

Let me know if you have different information and maybe we can get to the bottom of the scheduling issue and then share it with everyone.

Thanks, and I hope all is going well with you. Clearly the team is thriving.

Thanks for the info Lee.

Carol,

This thread actually started in December of 08 so am assuming that all dates won't be set until late November. However it looks like 10 and 12u have already been determined so hopefully 14u and up will be out soon.

I don't understand the problem......
There are the dates for the State Tournaments and the National/ Regional Qualifiers for the summer of 2010. As for the teams or people running each tournament I'm not sure! I posted this in December of 2008! They decided then at least one year in advance so you could be more prepared and informed! As for the ASA website....Who knows when it will be updated! BUT according to the meeting I was at when they bid on the tournaments and when they announced these dates these were to be set in stone! Best of luck to everyone finding out the whens and wheres!!!!

The dates are set in stone and the following tournaments will be played June 11,12,13, 2010 in the following cities. You will be able to find out more when they post the information on the Ohio ASA website: www.ohioasasoftball.org
They will give you cost and tournament directors contact information.

10U & 12U ASA State Tournament = Fostoria = 4 berths for 2010

14U State Tournament = Elyria = 4 berths for 2010

16U State Tournament = Findlay = 4 berths for 2010

18U State Tournament = West Chester (near Cincy, Kings Island Area)= 4 berths for 2010

The dates are set in stone and the following tournaments will be played June 18,19,20, 2010 in the following cities. You will be able to find out more when they post the information on the Ohio ASA website: www.ohioasasoftball.org
They will give you cost and tournament directors contact information.

10U & 12U ASA Regional Qualifier = Maumee = 1 berth minimum for 2010

14U Regional Qualifier = North Ridgeville = 1 berth minimum for 2010

There will be NO Regional Qualifiers for the 16U or 18U.

The dates are set in stone and the following tournaments will be played June 25,26,27, 2010 in the following cities. You will be able to find out more when they post the information on the Ohio ASA website: www.ohioasasoftball.org
They will give you cost and tournament directors contact information.

10U / 12U / 14U National Qualifier = Canton = 1 berth minimum for 2010

16U National Qualifier = Shreeve = 1 berth minimum for 2010

18U National Qualifier = Massillon = 1 berth minimum for 2010

Thanks for clearing up Jamie, I just thought this was an old thread that found new life. You would think if these dates were announced a year ago they would be on the Ohio ASA website. I now know when and where we might be playing next summer.

Just got off our great Ohio ASA web page.
I now know the for sure dates for all the qualifiers for 2009
As for the 2010 qualifiers, I would believe what Jamie posts.
As for the emails for Warren Jones -- GOOD LUCK
I've sent at least 3 or 4 emails to him and they all returned.
Must not be wanting to be bothered so box is probably full.
As for the 4 berths for states and 1 for nationals.
We have always had at least 6 to 8 berths out of Ohio
Total teams may be down but what happened to the regional tournament, that was at least 1 more chance to qualify.
I hope these dates are set in stone because I'm not canceling one of my showcase tournaments just to go to ASA

CincyStorm:

You clearly have a very good understanding of the ASA National rules for awarding berths. Are you saying that even after Cincinnati Metro merged into Region 9 Cincinnati teams are not eligible to play in Ohio States? Because I thought that was the whole purpose for the merger? Because I'm pretty sure that one of the main reasons for the merger was to allow Cincy teams to play in Ohio ASA State? And I thought that there had been some Dayton teams entered in Ohio ASA State in the past?

What you say makes sense to me based upon the few times that I have girded up my loins to review the ASA regs, but I don't know that it has been adhered to in the past. Maybe someone from Dayton Metro or Cleveland Metro can correct me.

Cliff:

I doubt that the argument can be made that the State of Ohio is ceding its berths to Region 9, since the information out there is that there will be four berths (the four that belong to Ohio ASA) in the Ohio State tournament and that there will be one berth for the Region 9 (not open) tournament.

This is a mess.

Cincy Storm-

Very nice and informative post. The only response I am going to give you is ask Warren Jones where those berths went.... He is the one that took them away. As for not playing in the "state tournament" which is where I think he (Warren) placed them so more could qualify at the Sate Tournament....

I don't have a clue what the ASA does nor do I have a clue what Warren Jones or the rest of the ASA "hierarchy" does.

All I did is post the information that I got when I went to that meeting back in December of 2008. If you want to know go to the next meeting and get the information straight from the Ohio ASA Hierarchy!

I posted the tournaments that were up for bid and that were awarded to the people that bid on them. If you want to play by the ASA CODE.... Then call OKLHOMA and do something about! I'm all for it! I too believe we are NOT getting all the bids that the OHIO teams deserve!

If you think you or your team deserves one then call Warren Jones and ask for one he might just give it to you! I've seen it done in the past year or two with teams!

Best of luck to you in your quest for the "holy grail" (ASA Berths) ....

Is anyone going to be out in Reno, Nevada this coming up week? The 2009 ASA Annual Council meeting is slated from November 7th thru November 13th at the Peppermill Resort Spa & Casino. Maybe someone knows where the mysterious Region 9 berths are...lol. :)

On a more serious note...I wonder if ASA will vote to go to 43' for 14U & 16U in 2010?

ASA States
I have a MAJOR issue with ASA States being held this week. Ohio should start looking into commencement ceremonies for graduating seniors. Poland Seminary High School has their commencements that weekend. My daughter is graduating in 2010. We are not going to be able to participate in the 4 berths awarded State tourney. This is a crime.
Why not have this event later. Valley Extreme is not staying home because of my daughter. My 2 pitcher's brothers are in this graduating class.

ASA wake-up!!!!! Make sure this NEVER happens again to your supporting teams. Schedule the States for another weekend later in June.

My opinion.
