ASA Tournament 2013 Cincinnati ASA/USA Qualifing City Championship - open to all Region 9 teams

from what I understand it requires 2 teams and it's a best of three if that few... but I'm no expert. Maybe Michelle will weigh in on it. I know the Oklahoma berth was a best of three for Hawks Shepp and Lasers Gray, similar situation. Not sure if its fair to apply those rules here or not.

Does anyone know how this would work? does ASA require a certain number of teams before they will award a berth?

ASA has no minimums. Unless there is a local rule to prevent it, the berth is awarded if at least 1 team enters. Before PGF, some SoCal teams got ASA/USA berths by entering an open National Qualifier in a region where they were the only entrant. They just paid the entry fee and didn't even have to show up.

If there are 2 teams, a best of 3 is the same as double elimination.

well... things have changed a bit. Not the event is was supposed to be. Hopefully 2014 will be different.

The 12U and 14U divisions have been cancelled due to teams pulling out.

Now, the 16U - it is NOT a USA/ASA qualifier, so the teams entered have no penalty playing up and all are combined into the 16/18u bracket. So, my team is playing up due to format changes.

Thought I would give this a useful bump as I have referred some parents to this thread for schedule information....

With weather reports of 1-2" of rain over next two days and 50% chance on Saturday, sounds like it could possibly be a long weekend. Is the backup plan 2 finish the trny during the week, if need be, as in the past? Will also be fun to see the younger teams play up against the 18s. Some very good teams. Good luck to all teams!

Can anyone update location of games today? Heading to watch some of the local teams and I have heard the location has changed to Mid American Ball Park...any updates would be appreciated.
