In the 14u division, the first championship game was called because of darkness with the LC Heat ahead 2-1 in a tight game. There was no "if,then" game. Buckeye Heat and LC Heat were declared co-champions of the tournament and each qualified for 2010 Eastern Nationals. We won the coin flip to see which trophies we got to take home. Congratulations to the ladies from both squads for a good tournament run under tough conditions!

Very nice games in the 14U division...although shortened to 50 minutes makes it tough! Congratulations to the the LC Heat and Buckeye Heat, played you both and you deserved the win.
Dragons 13U Scores:
Dragons vs Oh Glory 14U 3 -3 tie (Pool)
Dragons vs Vipers 13U 5-5 Tie (Pool)
Dragons vs Buckeye Heat 14U 0-7 (Bracket)
Dragons vs. Oh Glory 13U 4 - 0
Dragons vs. Dragons 14u 5 - 0
Dragons vs. Vipers 13U 5 -2
Dragons vs. L.C. Heat 1 -2 Loss

The rain definitely created issues for this smaller organization to handle when hosting a double elimination tournament. The 2nd day was much better than the first with parents helping on the fields by raking and relining the fields in between games. It was a lot of rain to handle! The brackets were questionable, but who knows?

The umpires were on time and consistent and it was good to see the UIC (Dan) out and about and checking the fields and talking with the coaches.

Congratulations to the Lil Dragons on your first tournament and receiving the berth! Nice job 13U Dragons on your games - winter ball is around the corner!

I just wanted to thank the crush organization for putting on a tournament. I know at times there was confusion, but every tornament has a issue. I believe the umpire's where very good, and the teams we played had a lot of class. The 16u division ended up with the Cincy Flames and the Force. The Force has a very talented bunch of girls and well coached. We(Cincy Flames) just ran out of gas, but the force played, they deserved it and did it on the field, congratulation's FORCE.

k1k2s3j4 well said. We thought the umpiring was very good. The Crush field people relined the and raked the field for the 16U championship game. The Crush organization worked hard to have a full schedule of games on Saturday after lots of rain on Friday. The Heart of Ohio Force thanks the Crush organization for putting on this tournament. The 16U final was hard fought and the Cincy Flames have a very good team. I believe the final was their 6th game of the day. The top 3 in 16U were:

1. Heart Of Ohio Force
2. Cincy Flames
3. Central Ohio Ice 15U

I can't wait to harass Dan all summer. I just have to remember to feed him cupcakes before he assigns my umpires rather than after.

HOH Force, I think all the field maint people were at your fields then cause I didn't see ONE at any of 12U and 10U. Poorly ran tournament with umpires being just as bad. I think the ones we had were the people walking the neighborhood, grabbed them and gave them a blue shirts to wear :(

yeah, lets be honest here people. The teams were quality, the umpires were decent, the fields were ok, but this was a poorly ran tournament. Rain has been a much larger issue for tournaments that were handled MUCH better. This lady was in over her head, period. Who gives out sunday game times to teams AFTER 11PM saturday night? POOR communication all weekend long. The rules changed, the fields changed, the time limit changed, the game times changed, the park changed at game time, fields weren't drug. Teams were told 8am, traveled over an hour and a half to find out 1030, then the 1030 game gets moved back, and there was NO weather issue sunday, it was beautiful. $5 parking to get in to a park with no parking spots. Aside from that, everything went smooth. That Licking County Heat 14U team after all that must feel great being up 2-1 in the championship and getting a 2nd place trophy for poor planning. Not saying Buckeye Heat may not have won, there a good team too, but come on, get it together next year for those who come back.

A for effort on getting the fields ready
D- for organization. The 16u brackets were a mess, changed I dont know how many times and still were not right when games were finally played. After pool play finished did not have a clue where to put #1 seed, #2 seed, etc. This should have been known a week ago when the schedule was completed and just plug the teams in. We warmed up for a 3rd game Saturday and then at game time found out we had a bye till Sunday. Then we had a time change after 11:00pm Saturday moving from 8 to 9pm but I was in bed and didnt get the message till 5:30am.

And very disapointed with 50 minute time limits some of the stalling going on with 16u teams

My suggestion would be if a TD is coaching a team she needs to have a site manager at each location in use. After pool play the 10u coaches were figuring out the seedings and matchups. I didn't see a rake or field liner until the Classics/Dragons game was delayed so a 12U game could be played to "catch up" to converse park as they were literally walking on the field to begin play. My 12U daughter's game started nearly 2 hours late so what "catch up" needed to happen. I can live with 50 minute games but the communication/organization had me thinking I was back at NSA states in Cincy. Sorry to say it was my first and last trip to Howl Fest. I won't even talk about the porta johns, at least the delays gave you time to make a run to mcdonalds!!!!

Do you mean there was more stalling than what normally goes on any given week or did you just lose a close one as time expired?

i thought as well that crush organization did good job to play games on saturday after that not to much good to say lokked for tourny director several times always at other place go there no she is back there crazy.seen lowest seed team in age bracket already be in winners bracket while a 3 seed had to play in.teams there were good most coaches good but doubt the better orgs will be there again.not trying to bash anyone just lack of communication was frustrating.would of been nice to finish tourny i know in 12u we had 5 teams and you cant finish that????well good luck in future tournys hope you learn from this one if communication doent exist parent and coaches and players get frustrated.one good thing was i felt 3 of your top 12u teams were there and competing strong good luck to the classics and stingrays

Jason, I agree with the seeding in 12u.........the 5 seed should have been in the play in game. I believe that would have changed the bracket substantially.
