one account... and move one. One name.. and don't be a yellow-belly about it. If you are a tool... well... tools do get abused when appropriate. I know of several on here that are much better than pooper scoopers.

How about a ask the expert message name ,who could answer question s privately or post on the site for them with discretion and is trusted to answer in a unbiased manor
People have differing opinions on whom is an expert...

They should just PM their question(s) to a user they respect and trust. IME, people are willing to help each other out.

Trustworthiness is a tough thing to come by in the fastpitch world. People you think you can trust, turn out to be shady, a large percentage of the time. I think I can count on one hand, the people I truly trust. But I totally get what you are saying.

When the idea was first brought up at the end of last night's radio show, I thought it had merit, especially in situations say where the poster might be new to the game and wanted to ask a "dumb" question to just learn without being afraid to expose their "ignorance". And I thought it was way better than people just setting up multiple user names. In 11+ years on the Forum, I have only ever had one user name, and pretty much everyone knows who I am. But the responses here make a good point that it probably would be used more to hide while bashing coaches, organizations or parents, if even in an indirect way. The issue is that in this world of political correctness, some people are afraid to post anything critical or controversial, and it might have been a way to at least bring issues to the forefront. The Forum has spoken in terms of not liking the idea, but does anyone have any other ideas how to accomplish the same thing?

A direct approach is always the best. Say what is on your mind stand behind what you say. If you fart in someones church so be it. Better to offend someone honestly than doing a pc dance trying to make everyone happy.

If it is a newbie question im pretty sure theres a ton of people on this forum that have experienced what they are asking about. And I do not know a single person on here that would not help if asked.

Remember.... there are no stupid questins.... only stupid people

Question who should they respect and trust?I'm sure if your a regular on the site you know who they are.Id say the TSZ staff have a good source for there question to be answered fairly No one really needs to know who's answering them,The person asking will sense a bias.

I Will agree with you that Travel Ball can be a cut throat Buisness. Every year some Dirty Deals go on and just make you say HUH ! There is not much Loyalty left in this world any more. Good luck with your Travel Season !

i'm not so sure you can prevent people from having multiple accounts or identities. IP addresses are logged and can be flagged for multiple log in from that IP address. You might have a husband and wife who share that same computer and will have two separate accounts.

also, IP addresses are unique to each devise meaning your home computer, cell phone, work computer, etc. each have their own IP address so in theory, you can have separate accounts for separate devises.

then you also have a situation when you have someone logging in from a network IP address (for example, government employees) these are routed through a server and the IP isn't exactly unique to each computer (there is some techinical mumble jumble that i will leave out). For example, I work for the IRS is Cinci and our work computers are all on our network that is based out of either Maryland, Pennsylvania or New Jersey- depending on which network server we are assigned to on any given day and this does fluctuate depending on load and sometimes we share a network with Cleveland- that being said there are 1000's of government employees that may share the same IP on any given day.

I don't see how a newbie would sense a bias if they haven't been around long enough to know/evaluate people. A newbie can/will post their questions because no one knows them. I think OP is more concerned about regulars that are known by others and they've likely formed opinions about other users.

TSZ would have to promote a go-between/expert user on the page banner for people to be aware of the service.

Do you not think that trustworthiness would improve if you actually knew who you were talking too? This way you can actually see what and who they are...
I post on professional sites as well as recreational sites like the OFC/Softball Zone...What is so hard about stating "new user may be considered a dumb question but what if"?
I see it all the time on mechanics forums and not one time does someone come on to say anything negative however; the posting requirements are a little different. As far as resident expert...Time will take care of that like Bretman with rules...

Didn't a member already lay claim to representative and poster for the People? I believe that member received and posted the difficult questions, the honest opinions, and what was in the hearts of those fearful of being deemed unworthy by the masses.
I nominate that member to be the Voice, or the Grand Exalted Reviewer to represent and present the difficult viewpoints under their sole administration.

Man alive...I focus on year end financials for a couple of days & look what I missed.
The anonymity idea...in theory it helps people avoid the potential embarrassment or maybe allows them to get some info that they couldn't get publicly.
However, the fact that people can hide behind anonymity here sure provides for an environment of harshness that doesn't need to exist.
Many posters have stated their disagreement with this concept, and I side with them.
I also apologize that I can't come up with a better proposal, which is usually the best thing to do if you do have to disagree with an idea brought up by another.
I have nothing really good to suggest, except maybe you can just sit and watch for a while...then possibly pick somebody who might be good source for info and PM them. Take your chance that you are DM'ing the right person for your info.
Here are some well known, and respected resident experts:
Rules-Bretman
Wristband Signal Systems-CoachJWB
Hitting-BouldersDad, Straightleg, CrystleMC a few others.
Overall good input & no BS-Lester gets this award.
Objective, fair input (IMO, he's the honest judge of OFC)-CoachJWB
Insults with little validity-A....
Watch for a while...you can see who knows what. Use your PM for sensitive stuff...people will keep it on the DL.

I can see a few topics that would benefit from anonymity. I think CrystleMC's idea has merit. I also believe that there are users who have been around for a while that don't post for fear of backlash from some of the good ol' boys club. Not all, but some are real asses. Posting anonymously is really no different than many from this site I witness at the ball park, where they back stab, and talk out of both sides of their face. For the record, I do miss AD. Didn't always agree with the posts, but it was much more interesting than a face mask debate every 3 months.
