The teams entered in the Sparta Summer Shootout will be getting atleast 10 games and the 3-6 seeds will end up with 13 games. I am curious if anyone else has played this many games in a weekend and what might the record be for a 3-day tournament. :-?

Nope, but played 9 last weekend and would of had to win 3 more to win the tournament.

That's too much, especially if the weather is hot and humid. It borders on abuse for the younger kids. How many teams have four legitimate pitchers? That's how many you should have minimum for a 13-game weekend. Just sayin'...

We played 9 this past weekend in Zanesville. If we had not run out of gas on Sunday we would have had an opportunity to play at least 3 more for the championship. Needless to say the teams with the older 12's seemed to last longer than the ones with the younger 11's.

We also played 9 this past weekend and would have had to play 3 more to win out!!!! Even though we played 9, we only played 4 in one day? We have played 4 on one day in back to back weekends and it does take a toll....You have to be really carefull and get a lot of fluids in them.....

As an adult, could you play 10-12 games in a weekend? Especially in Sunday's weather? I feel this is an issue that gets overlooked. Our young 12U team played 3 Sunday back to back to back and we would have really struggled to play a 4th in that heat. I know we want to get the girls experience, but at what price? Tournament formats need to be looked at. What's wrong w/ the good old double elimination? If teams want more than the dreaded 2 and out, put those teams into some kind of consolation bracket. This would make Saturday's games important instead of pool games that really don't truthfully impact the end result very much. The best teams will rise to the top of most scenarios, so why make the girls play so many games to get there? I know, if you get into the loser's bracket, you can potentially play quite a few games, so limit the # of teams in each age group and, if needed, add some Friday night games. JMHO

When my dd was 12u they played at Marysville and it was double elimination then (3 years ago).
They played 3 pool games Sat. then into bracket play on Sunday first game at 8am won that one lost the next one went to the losers bracket and then they won 5 in a row to get to the championship game. They lost to a very good central Ohio Stin..... team at 10:45 pm. That was 8 games in a row with the longest break between games being 20 min. the ?girls loved it. They were wore out by the championship game, nutrition wasnt real good that day either choking down hot dogs and nachos in the dugout between games. They only had 3 pitchers.

The parents of the C.O.S. told the kids before the game win or lose our hats are off to you for that amazing day which i thought showed alot of class.

I told some friends about it they told me they couldnt believe as parents that we made them play that many games. My response was we didnt, they could of lost at any point and went home. LOL

So after all of that my answer is yes they played 11 games in 2 days. This is over 3 days and they are 16u they will be fine
