Thanks, LK, but by closure I meant a FINAL decision on when these tournaments will be.

The 16u Region 9 must have been removed from the list over the wekend because it was listed for Findlay on July 3,4,5. Which would give 16's another conflict in scheduling..

Well thats kind of what I thought you meant. But to answer your question about when....I'm sure I'll be better able to let you know.....about this time next year!!!;&

soooo we still don't have an actual schedule...

What I have seen so far is... NO conflicts with Stingray this year! YAY

Might have to decide between Compuware and ASA States...

Have to decide between Best of the Best and an ASA 16u Q on the holiday weekend.

we could be setting this so all the major tournies have no conflicts - and Ohio Softball could be making even greater strides on the national scene then we have been making. College coaches would sure back the whole idea.

Just an FYI to the 16u teams. I spoke to Roger Zorn yesterday and the 16u Regional is cancelled. He was told by Warren Jones that there is "too much going on" the weekend of the 4th so it is cancelled and not to be rescheduled. Very disappointed with this news, but thought I would pass it along.

That sounds like a cop out to me!! Let the teams that want to enter make that decision. If no one enters than cancel it. I'm starting to get feed up with all these governing bodies!!!

So lets do this... I have been lobbying with Warren and I have roger Zorn's blesssing to try and run the region 9 16u in pickerington June 26-28. I have the facilites, the staff, and no conflicts that weekend. I've heard that they are giving the berths to the ASA NQ tourney which means teams from out side Region 9 can get it. (edit - he just told me, no team from outside region 9 will get the berth, Don't know how he will tell a 2nd place team from Chicago they didn't get one. but that won't be my problem. That leaves the Classics one weekend to qualify for ASA Nationals sice we have been accepted to Compuware, unless he changes his mind)

sooo... maybe a letter writing campain is what we need. You know Pick Central is one of the best places to run a tourney and you know The Ohio Classics know how to run a quality event. what do you think.

Why would he even think of adding it to the NQ(I do not even think it would be legal according to the rules). If he is going to add a berth it should go to the "State" qualifier so it goes to an Ohio team. According to the ASA site Ohio should get 2 berths and they do not count "National Qualifiers". He did this same thing last year at 14U. He gave out 1 at ASA "State" qualifier and kept the other bid. Not sure who he gave it to but it was not "won" by a team. He asked me a week before Nationals if I wanted a bid.

I talked to Roger again and asked about the numbers of berths. He said since the Region 9 tourney was cancelled, the state tournament would get at least 2, but may be more depending on the # of teams entered. Hmmmmm - where have I heard this before?! I'm alllll for having the tourney in Pick!

here, here, I second Dave Beckham as Region 9 qualifier TD to be held at Pick Central July 4th weekend, there will be plenty of 16U teams available in Ohio for the tournament, Dave will promote it well

I say move the tournament to June 26-28. I believe Warren Jones is correct with alot going on the weekend of the 4th. No big tournaments the weekend before.

Agreed - June 26th to the 28th is good. Just frustrating that you give everyone this information for one set of dates and you have to make choices. Then, surprise! It's cancelled. At any rate, I hope it can be done for the 26th.

^^^agree with all the above...have the Region 9 qualifier at Pick Central on June 26-28. The Classics have a proven track record for hosting quality high profile tourneys!!! Lets get it done.

I even bid on those tournaments for that weekend last year. and we got over bid or something and they granted it to someone else that ended up not being able to host it.

I wish ASA would ask for feedback from the people they represent before they make these decisions.

When will they post entry forms for the ASA States June 13&14 and the NQ in Ashland June 19-21?

Cincy area is Region 10 as TheBear shows. Makes it goofy for us Cincy teams and what tourney's to pick when considering berths and where to play.

After this year it won't be a problem. Starting in 2010, Cincinnati moves to Region 9.
