How: Earn a berth at one of these tournaments

1. The ASA State Tournament
2. The ASA Regional Tournament
3. At an ASA/USA National Qualifier
4. At an ASA Metro Qualifier, if your team is from that Metro
5. Finish in the Top 8 at the Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahoma City
6. Finish 1st or 2nd at last years ASA Nationals (East, West, North, or South)
7. Finish 1st or 2nd at last years ASA/USA Championship

The ASA National Qualifier has 1 berth. The ASA State and Regional tournament varies in the number of berths. The regional has a minimum of 1 berth. I am not sure how many berths are available at the States or Regionals. Each ASA Association gets one berth for every 500 registered teams. It is up to the Commissioner on how to award these berths. Here in Ohio, those berths are usually divided up between the State and Regional tournaments. This is not gospel, just what I've gotten out of the code and what I have seen happen.

It is true that one coach has to be ACE certified but I have not heard or seen that the team has to be insured by Bollinger. This never was mentioned at the ASA Commissioners meeting.
I am meeting with Warren Jones in the morning, I will ask for verification.

Yes, it is a mandatory issue - new in 2009.
ASA is moving toward ACE certification - for all coaches - that also include a background check.

I think if someone could come up with the written rules for the certification, it would also have the insurance requirement.

Up to now, all of the certification and insurance requirements are hear-say.
