Attending several tryouts

My DD is planning to attend several tryouts this year but she has her sights set on a particular team. If she gets an offer from a team prior to her 1st choice's tryouts I'm not sure how to handle it. I don't want to string along a coach but I don't want her to miss an opportunity if she doesn't make her 1st choice.

Any suggestions?

The better she is, the longer they will be willing to wait. If they need an answer within 24 hours, she is someone they would like, but she is expendable. On the other hand, I can understand a team fearing a player going to two weeks worth of tryouts only to turn the team down, and in the meantime that team has lost its second, third and fourth options.

With the stronger 16-U and 18-U teams (and probably 14-U), just get in touch with the coach. They might hold tryouts, but their rosters are mostly formed outside of tryouts.

Tell them you have multiple offers and your family is thinking abut the right choice. They will understand.

Agree with both previous responses. Last year we were up front with all prospective coaches and they all seemed to understand. We had an answer with in 3 or 4 days. We didn't want to wait too long because we felt it would be unfair to the teams we turned down not to have as much time as possible to fill their rooster before all the girls got gobbled up by other teams.
