Playing Hoover right now will make any other region look weak by comparison.

Agree to disagree. Hoover is clearly a very good team but had much tougher games at Cbus regional and Massillon district. Akron regional is clearly down since Massillon district winner sent to Cbus and Boardman & Hudson being down. Evem Mentor coaches were clearly in over there heads in this one.

We know that, but who cares. BIG 10 was weak compared to SEC & PAC10 but in the end 2 teams made it to the SHOW. Rather be in weak region and make it to final 4 then strong division and end at district. :cap:

I don't disagree about Mwntor's

getting there being "wonderful"...

Just help me remember which big ten team got mercied at the WCWS?

Plus the NCAA tourney is seeded... You get to the WCWS you beat someone good to do it.

Mentor had a freshman pitcher and a new coach this year. Agree that this D1 region was weak this year, but congrats to Mentor on getting there, and I look for bigger things to come from them down the road.

If you look at it that way other schools other than Tennessee ****s. As I remember oaklhoma run ruled several schools. Mentor went above and beyond expectation and as long as you get to play there is a chance for an upset.

The Mentor kids seemed to be upbeat and smiling after the game so I think they were happy with their experience as a whole. They had great attitudes.

I thought Elyria's pitcher struggled with adjusting to the umpire's zone today, but she hugged the Hoover girls after the game - very classy. Thacker from Hoover is definitely one of the best pitchers in her class.

I saw Slatten pitch an inning on TV tonight in the TCS All-American game and was quite impressed. She got a groundball out to 2B and then 2 strikeouts against the same batters that scored 6 off a Texas Glory pitcher the inning before. Very crisp pitches - good velocity and sharp movement.

She also handled a quick sideline interview well regarding a Bible verse she says before every pitch - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13).

Her parents must be very proud of her. Job well done!

Some great pitchers mentioned in this link. Looking over this page it was cool to see how many pitchers my DD faced last year as a Sophomore that are verballed or signed to pitch at D1 schools- she faced 7 OH D1 bound pitchers last year. Alvelo (Washington) twice and Slatten (TX) twice were the best we saw last year. Trainer (Indiana) looked sharp in our Regional finals game and with a full year of recovery will be even better. In addition, I had a chance to see Tara Thacker (NO IL) pitch all Summer and she was on her game at PGF Nationals. OH has some pitching talent!

2015 - deep class - Morgan Geno(Ohio U), Tara Trainer(Indiana), Taryn Aveillo(Washington), McCombs (Louisville)
2014 - McMenemy(Akron),
2013 - Emily Anderson(Toledo), Jocelyn Rivera(Ball State), Mason Robinson(Murray State)

All good kids - make Ohio proud! I had the pleasure to coach a few of them and know the rest pretty well!

Lancaster HS has 2 very strong pitchers , 1 is a jr and 1 a sophomore . They are pretty tough. Should be an exciting year for Lancaster.
