Looking to purchase some pop-up nets and I'd like to find some that are easy to put up and take down. I never liked the Jugs instant screen. I was looking at the ATEC sports net II. Any thoughts?
I personally like the Jugs instant screen, but it does take a little practice to get proficient at taking it down and putting it back into the carrying bag. Everything else I've tried generally wears out or breaks too quickly, or is too time consuming to set up or take down.
The Jugs Pop - Up is the best. Plus as a coach you can ask the parent that gives you the most headaches to lend a hand after practice by putting the net away. Sweet revenge watching a grownup wrestle a net for 15 minutes and never getting it put away correctly.
Easton's 5' and 7' is pretty nice. A little more stable and east to fold everytime compared to the Jugs. Less resistance to blow overs in a windy conditions.
More area for blocking stray contact when running soft-toss excercises due to "square" shape vs the Jugs "egg".
coach that played in Colorado sparkler said everyone was using the hurricane nets. I really thought they are nice and VERY durable. we are buying them for our whole organization. Might take an extra minute to put up, but coach told me not really that much longer in the end process. anyone else use these?
who knows how to actually put a pop-up net back together
who has had a broken nose from pop-up nets springing out of the bag
who has ruined thier pop up nets trying to fold them into a circle
Had 4 different ones...Jugs is the better of them all.
Baseball express. com has them for $120 like everyone else but only $5 shipping... rather than $30 or $40 for shipping like everyone else. Look for the free or cheap shipping deals.
I saw a lot of those Hurricane nets at ASA nationals. I was wondering what type of net they were (didn'tk now until you posted a link with a picture lol). I'm a fan of the Jugs net but getting them folded to put away is quite the challenge lol.
Had the Easton and the Jugs. The Jugs is the best. Once you get used to putting it away, it isn't too hard. The Jugs appears to stand up the best to wind. All of the others need to have the wind going into them or they don't hold their shape well. The Jugs can have the wind coming from the back side and other than the net blowing out a little, the frame holds its shape.
DD has a hurricane net. It is a pain in the butt. If we don't have it staked just right, it doesn't stay up & she can never seem to get it put up by herself. I bought her an Easton net & she loves it.
Jugs instant screen for regular or dimple balls and the Jugs Small Ball pop up for whiffle balls, tennis balls or soft flite balls.
Here is a link that shows both. Not sure if they are the cheapest. (around $119.00 for the instant screen). http://www.wizardkicking.com/baseball/screens.html
We use the jugs nets throughout our organization.
I have heard good things about the Hurricane but I have never used one. Anyone use these? I would like to hear a comparison....
