So he should have had the number 6 hole listed as the dp correct? Are you saying the dp can be moved around to multiple players during the game? What about the flex? If he starts with all 9 positions filled and one of those being called the dp then how can the flex be starting playing in left field? I'm still not sure either of us were completely right at this point.... Help me understand what good it does to have your pitcher your dp when you have a girl listed as nothing? or maybe I will never understand anything other than the typical part of this rule... Fwiw I know my limits and will never play the dp/flex as anything other than conventional. If I can't explain it to make sense to myself I certainly am not going to try to do it in a game.

Everything on that lineup card looks fine. 10 spot was flex. He list the P as DP. Can play 9 of them anywhere in the field. The Flex can only enter the batting lineup in the DP's spot............

Initial line-up should have looked something like this. Then, all the coach has to do is have the DP play defense for #9. Nothing tricky or illegal there. That's just a basic part of the rule. DP can play defense for anyone.

This was exactly my point but he didn't want to listen that all he had to do is exactly what you have listed. So he understood the rule but not to the full extent.

Sounds like the other coach only felt obliged to fill in the details that have an effect (i.e. DP/Flex, P/C for courtesy runner). It's possible he felt it necessary to hide/disguise a non-DP player in the line-up was not playing defense. Regardless, BretMan laid out the proper way to do what he wants.

Thanks everyone this helped me out a lot to understand it for what it should be exactly. I feel I am always a student of the game myself and can learn something everyday.
