What Tournament or Tournaments are you doing this year that was RECOMMENDED to you that your Team has never done before!

I get asked a lot about Ohio Tournaments from Teams from WNY. I know all about the most popular ones. If you reply to this thread maybe you could put what part of Ohio the Tournament is in for example ( Northeast) and Age Group. Not all Tournaments are good for all age groups.

Without a doubt, have to play 14U only, Fire in the Sky. It's usually Fourth of July weekend in Orrville, OH. Orrville is around the Akron/Canton area.

I know it's been a couple years since Alexis played there but our experience last year was it got too big. 96 teams means it's now a 4 day event, not 3 and some of the facilities we played on were substandard. Two games at Rittman which was all clay, no field topping and after rain it was a very unsafe situation for sliding. It was a safety factor to the point I told my girls not to slide on it. Wasn't worth serious injury for a game. I know at least two kids left there on stretchers last year. Not sure what happened to the fields at Dalton, but I thought that site was pretty good.

Another remote site was behind a school, forget the name. The field was ok but you were the only game going and removed from the action so it didn't "feel" like you were part of Fire in the Sky. And then the hotels was a whole other nightmare - as in: NONE CLOSE. Having two daughters and last year being my third year of it, I felt it had jumped the shark.

I'm not saying it isn't still a good event and Joe and his crew do a great job, but it was better when it wasn't so big and they had Dalton.

Fire in the sky was a great tourney! We will be there gunning for the hope to play in front of one of the biggest audiences at 14u before the fireworks! Even though some of the venues are not the best...there are very few tourneys where the people are sooooo great to the girls and work every game to make the fields right for them to play! Some of the best umpires as they pull great crews from stark, wayne, and summit counties. The goodie bags are fun too!

Dave -
the Mid West all-Sanction World Series In Columbus http://www.fastpitchshowdowns.com/midwest-all-sanctioned-world-series That fastpitch Showdowns puts on is a Nice event.
Much like yours it's an event tourny with a parade of teams and skills competitions prior to the actual games. And its at Berliner Park the worlds biggest ball park.

Now we have not gone in the last few years but i have not heard anything bad from anyone who has been there (other than typical tournament complaints)

I think everyone is missing your point Dave lol

Warren you are 100 percent right. I don't want to say I'm looking for that diamond in the rough but I kinda am. lol Most Coaches go back to the same Tournaments year after year. I always tell Coaches there are so many good Tournaments that Coaches don't know about. There has to be that Tournament that you have been wanting to do, that has been recommended to you and you couldn't fit into your schedule and you finally are doing it this year. One other thing, It doesn't have to be a A Tournament. There are more B Teams than A Teams. I recommended a Buffalo Team to the Best of the Best Fall Showcase this year, They had a great time. They had never heard of it before. The Team quality for them was perfect! I know that Tournament is well know in Ohio. Recommendations from a fellow Coach go a long way!! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Dave would my Outlaws Summer Invitational 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U since it is a first year event, I'm technically referring people lol.

Outlaws Summer Invitational and D1 Camp
Camp June 9-10
Showcase Tournament June 10-12

Some quick hits

1) We have a amazing list of teams committed and have room for a couple more in most age groups.

2) The list of teams committed to play in it at 12U may be the strongest group ever assembled. We have what people say are the best 12U teams from , Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and PA. Probably can say the same almost all the other ages.

3) Another thing that makes this event so special is these girls will have chance to get instruction and play in front of some of the best coaches in the country.

Dave we are very excited to have brought this never before opportunity to the girls of the Midwest
If you want to see more about this event you can go to www.D1fastpitch.com and see coaches for camp and much more. We are adding more coaches till we get 20-30 quality coaches.

Any questions please call me

Browse for yourself and see how many tournaments in Ohio are doing what we're doing.

National Anthem, free door prizes, thousand$ in scholarships, great vendors. New this year, a 60" digital live board with live results on site, double elimination format, field prep between games all weekend long...

Warren, Dutros is alive and well. Bought my suv there last year.

Hitter, not sure about the innards, haven't heard that but I've only been Zanesvillian for a few years and even then I'm suburbanite. But it does sound about right.

The Indian Lake Final Fling held in Lakeview has always been a very nicely run tourney. Lots of things to do around the lake.

Josh Delp and Joe Frazier do a nice job with the Fremont Frenzy in early June.

The Loudonville tourneys are always nicely ran and being close to the river there is canoeing, go carts, hiking, plenty of places to shop.

Dixie Days in Mt. Vernon is one of the best little tourneys in the state. Behind Fire in the Sky and Loudonville there aren't many better ran tourneys around.

There aren't many "Bucket List" tourneys in my opinion. The single biggest reason is that they have gotten to big or are more focused on showcasing or recruitment and less on the "wow" factor.

I agree with above post that most of the summer tournaments are all well known...........

But I hear in the Fall the "Can't Miss" event is the Ohio Thunder Fall Classic!!!!
It is usually held the 3rd weekend of October.........All ages groups.......Don't miss the 5th Annual in 2016!!!

I'm just glad to see that a few members have figured out that the (Softball Tournament Talk) section is for 3 things. Talking about Tournaments, a place for members to post result for all the lazy (TD) that are all about self promotion and a places for members to post tournament reviews.

Glad to see some are catching on.

The 10U Wizard Young Guns will be checking a couple tournaments off our bucket list in 2016. We will be attending the Stingray Showcase in May and the Firefighters Memorial in July. Both events are in the Columbus area. Cheers to visiting uncharted waters for this great group of girls!!

I think that for an early-Bird, Thunder Elite runs a really nice 10-14's tournament. Their Perfect Storm in end May/Early June is as good an Org.-run tournament that their is. Jeff (Oiler Pride) and his guys run this thing very well. If you don't play that weekend, it's because there was monsoon. If Perfect Storm ain't playin', Nobodys playin'!!

It's not Ohio, but the Power tournament in Pittsburgh area is a nice tournament also.

I think Warren runs a nice Breast-Cancer tournament, but he hasn't paid the Almighty in years.......Seems to rain that weekend every year. LOL

I have played in the World Series in Columbus that last couple years. If I were to judge by those, I'd play in anything Bill runs. He does a really nice job.

I have always loved Lasers as well as Stingrays. They have that down pat as well.....
